Who got to spend an hour on the track with basically that exact car? This guy. Best day ever. The new dual clutch trans in the + is worlds better than the automated manual in the old V10 GT.

the slowest supercar ever made

I was watching videos of Cobb tuned GTR's just walk these R8's, some of them had twin turbos too

The Gtr is great, I would take one. With that said I've read of a lot of people buying them and then selling them because they "feel soulless." Whatever that means. Curious what any of your guys input on that is. Especially so if you have ever actually driven one.

No, the NSX was the slowest supercar ever made...

Tuned GTR's can walk a lot of supercars, this is not groundbreaking...

And yet, the NSX is said to have the most soul.....

hrm.

I've never driven any of them so I have no bias.

i'd like to own any of them.

means its a fucking appliance

'Soulless' is a perfect way to describe driving a GTR...

Hard to explain, kinda.

One the street, the GT-R gets boring after doing a few grin inducing launches. The acceleration above 80 mph is merely average for it's class. A stock C7 vette feels like it has the same pull at higher speeds. It's nearly impossible to approach it's handling limits on the street (which can be said for most sports cars), and it feels artificial / robotic through the wheel. The throttle response from a roll sucks, and it just doesn't sound that good (even with Akrapovic race exhaust). From a roll at 70mph, I counted 3.5 seconds from the time I matted the pedal to when it got into the lowest possible gear and took off.

On the track though, the GT-R is an absolute monster. For the money, nothing is faster out of the box. Gotta give it to Nissan for the technology in this car for the price point. It will embarrass cars that are 3X the money. 90% of drivers could pilot the GT-R faster around a track than with any other production car. Just point and shoot. The car will do the rest, and bail you out if you get into trouble. The GT-R makes you feel like a super hero. That said, I had much more fun with the R8 and the 458, even though I was going slower.

For my money, which I don't have nearly enough of, I'd get a Carrera S.

Awesome review! That's the sort of description I was expecting from Wil. Although more vivid and with fiery crashing of some sort :p

Souless because it's all electronically controlled with computers...it virtually drives itself...it doesn't take much skill once you get the launce down...that is what people mean by "souless"
