:/ just about 40k and it's time for a full brake job. Apparently the oem brembo rotors can't be turned.

dealer said its about 750/axel in parts. ouch.

TireRack.com has slotted (that I don't want) for 500/pair for rotors. WTF. 1000 bucks in rotors alone. pads are 150/125 for hps's. still a 1300 part list.

TireRack.com also has stoptech blanks for 120 each, which is effectively less than half cost. I'd still uses the hps's.
Thinking about going this route.

There's some 'ebay' style packages of no-name rotors and ebc pads on the gen sites for 750 complete that are getting good reviews from people. I've ben thinking about this but I don't care for ebc's at all.

Anyone else have other suggestions?

don't buy a car with brembo's. lol

honestly though, the brakes are fucking fantastic. this car stops significantly better than my sti (with brembos) and m3 did.

ask e or mike, I always say brakes suck in cars. lol not this one.

B- take a look at Rock Auto for their parts prices. I am not sure if you are doing it yourself. PM me if you think you might purchae there I got something that will help you out.

I haven't looked more than the above. if you have a coupon or something, yeah, let me know what you got.

I think i'm going to order the parts regardless of who does it. probably not me. I need to do the clutch still too. awaiting my xmass bonus to spend it all on the car.

Yeah I have a stack of 5% off coupons but they apparently expired in June. So no go on that. On the other hand I always use Rock Auto for my parts and have been surprised by their prices compared to other retailers.

rock auto only has some powerstop xdrilled and slotted crap that looks pretty cheap. probably not going to go that route.

Ok I didn't know model year, etc so I didn't look anything up. For standard run of the mill parts they are usually a good bet.

If stop tech makes their street performance pads in your application, get them over the HPS. Better performance, usually cheaper. Only downside is that they are quite dusty.

I'd try to find them. If you can deal with the brake dust, the performance of the stoptechs for a street pad is great. Price point is just right too.

They are a bit harsh on rotors (for street pads). I change my rotors every other pad change. Pads usually get about 30,000mi. So the rotors usually last about 60,000. That's on a 3000+lb AWD WRX though. As they say, YMMV.

wtf are you searching for?

there's stoptech street performance pads for your car, and centric rotors. dont be convinced that centric is crap. centric is actually the rotor manufacturer for the stoptech brand rotors too, as well as cryostop.

front STSP pads - $80
rear STSP pads - $70
front centric blank rotors, premium - $76/ea
rear centric blank rotors, premium - $70/ea

Total - $442+ ship for all new brakes. they even have the cryo treated rotors available if you'd like.

Interesting. If they aren't crap, that's definitely the way to go. Hardly any reviews though. 500 shipped roughly is WAY better than the 1500 shipped i was looking at before...

My WRX gets centric premiums and STSP pads all around. The performance is great and perfect for a DD IMO. Just make sure you're either ok with dust, or frequent cleaning. They do dust a lot and get the wheels dirty. If that matters to you then maybe consider the ceramic pads. But the centric blanks are a great basic rotor.

Just make sure you do a good bed-in post install.

Do 10 or so HARD stops, threshold brake from about 60-10mph. Don't stop all the way.
Let the brakes cool for a few miles of light driving.
Do the hard stops again.
Let cool
Done.
