Wassup, I'm helping my friend with his installation of heavy duty act clutch and act 10lb fly wheel. The problem is that the engagement of the the clutch is almost instant its like the pressure plate does not disengage. The petal is very hard to push ( but im not to concerend with that cuase its a heavy duty clutch and i was told that it would do that ) A mechanic put the clutch/fly wheel in first time and we thought it was done wrong so we have reassembled the clutch and checked the master / slave cylinder and they are good, the fork is not bent. I don't have a clue what it could be but a either the new clutch or the fly wheel. We are gonna finish up the work tomorrow and check if that works, if not we are gonna try putting the stock fly wheel with the new clucth and see if that works. My last option before the stock parts are gonna be put on and taken to proffesional is putting on the old clutch and new fly wheel. I'm trying to eliminate the problem, if anyone had the same problem or heard of the same thing i would greatly appreciate the info to save me a lot of time. thanks (2002 honda civic ex d17a2)

I guess i did not make it clear, it engages about 1mm from the floor sometimes u cant even change gears and the floor mat is not in the way. I put a few aftermarket clutches in but never had something like this happen, we went to the place where he baught the stuff and the mechanic who has put more than few clutches in said something is not right. The parts have been checked to be the right ones but have not been inspected by ACT yet, that might be the next step it could be the product. Has anyone put one of those after market clutches in their d17a2?

Check The Hose

If the hose puffs up that happens. Or if you have air in your hydraulic system. The higher force requires more pressure and if the hose is marginal it can cause the symptoms you describe.
