Anybody else heard about this? It's a new mid-size car from Acura that debuted at the Detroit show. Apparently it's replacing both the TSX and TL, and it will be available in a FWD K24 version and an AWD V6 version. More details here: Acura | Future Vehicles | Acura.com

I think that this is a good move for Acura. With the ILX now filling the entry level category, the TSX and TL seem like overkill. And good on Acura for delivering a somewhat sporty AWD sedan that hopefully won't be too overpriced...

Acura hasn't had any significant market share in a long time.
I don't see this changing anything. it's another over-priced accord.

nice looking car overall
i still dont like the front emblem deal though

the current TL is 36 to 45k. So I think its safe to assume we're in the same ballpark.

This is a VERY competitive price point.
Everything from the lower corvettes to the 3 series and a4's and G-series are all in here.
ALL of which still come with a man pedal.

What does the acura do better than any of those? Nothing that I can see.

Yea, this is a smart move. Not like their line-up has a gaping hole that this R&D would be better suited for.

Don't forget the Cadillac ATS now that is making serious waves. You also have a decent Buick in that price point. There is finally some American manufacturer competition in this space which was traditionally owned by the imports.

Me thinks that Honda/Acura is responding to that more so than any one thing in particular. Like B said, this market is fierce.

Honda/Acura will always fall back on its safety and reliability before it ever goes after something like not having a man pedal. If you check out their booth at the NYC auto show - they always have the least radical concepts and the most pedestrian ideas. Honda is the new Volvo. Subaru operates well in that safety minded, everyday simple approach, too. Meanwhile, even Volvo has worked hard to shake that "boxy but reliable" moniker that it used to embrace when we were kids.

This advertisement may be attempting to shift the perception to a more fun car but at its heart, Honda is about those 5mph crash tests, pedestrian crash tests, and being the safest thing on the block. There's not going to be any radical shift, any time soon, that has Honda dumping a beefed up 6 cylinder or 8 cylinder into a car - or even a crazy 4 cylinder - and riding the spec sheet to the bank.

I agree, but I still think it's a good decision. They're basically saying..."Uh, let's replace the two somewhat competing overpriced Accord models that we currently have with one overpriced Accord model with some different power train options available"...

wow that's a nice looking car....9 speed Auto tranny, jesus lol...how fast do you need to be going to kick it into 9th gear???

cars are getting out of control....i thought the 7 Speed Auto on my Infinity was crazy.

Actually lots of cars are doing that nowadays. The new Jeep Cherokee has an 8 speed transmission I believe. It's mostly for fuel economy purposes...

Just a coupe in general. A buddy use to sell Acura. He said it was a daily occurence that people would ask about a coupe, then leave.

Yeah, I'm not sure what that's about really. I guess they're just assuming that the Accord coupe fills the niche for a somewhat luxurious two door vehicle?

Ford/GM are coming out with a 10speed soon enough.

For $800 bucks you get this amp that goes to Volume 10. For $1100 bucks it goes to 11.

What's the difference? Volume 11!!!!!!!
