Even the supercharged Si sedan at CART couldn't catch my non turbo Veloster

The Si died in the US when the EP3 went away.

Pretty much everything from Honda these days makes me go meh. I would take a 2014 Civic DX 4 door manual in the pearl white or whatever its called. Looks slick. Would NEVER pay the new car price on it. Also would like a CRZ. Again way over priced.

I would much rather pick up a used 996/997 at the those prices or an E46 M3. Something fun. I don't think I could ever justify a new car price for a boring uninspiring piece of shit.

Absolutely love my S4. So much fun to drive. Fast, traction is phenomenal. Looks are great without sticking out. Sound is very mild. When I go Frankenturbos, I'll be at 400+ whp.

I dunno, I think the EP3 might have been the beginning of the end actually. It's cool that they went back to the two door hatch style, but that's also when they ditched the double wishbones and it gained so much weight that it wasn't any faster than the 99-00 Si despite having more torque. They really should have offered it with the RSX Type-S engine...

Was never meant to be offered in a coupe or a sedan.

And we always got the watered down cars anyways.

I drove a newer Civic and I have to say that I would drive one for a DD. You probably won't understand until you drive it. Not talking to B here because we all know he'd find that one of the screws for the door handles wasn't tightened as much as the other side and would hate the car :p

Oh. Because supercar

I have driven most of these cars, that is the thing. I like to drive new cars for fun and make a Sunday out of it! But the damn civic is BIG. and boring. Some of us still like to have fun, and it is tough to find fun in a modern car that most folks can afford.

I would even go as far to state I'd pick up a Jetta long before a civic.

and damn right because supercar.

one of my g/f's friends has a 2013 dx? model.. it's not a bad car. the interior is pretty nice. I like the radio/ice set up. it rides pretty nice. It's slow by sports car acceleration, but its no worse off than, say, a 2.5 Altima....

it's just not sporty AT ALL. Perhaps, it's not supposed to be.

I'm sure the Si is significantly better in this department.. but it's that lack that keeps so many people like me from even considering it.

I WANT TO BUY a new car in the ~25-30k price range.
I continue to own my current car because there's just nothing in that price range that is:
- fun to drive (speculative)
- has proper seats that hold me and can be adjusted how I like (bottom aiming with the butt down, knees up, proper lateral and lumbar (rare to find.. honestly the genesis seat bottom is not as tilt-able as much as I would like it to be....)
- has enough power and brakes to satisfy me (a challenge, given)
- has the proper space I want (which rules out the brz/370z/other 2 seaters and stuff)
- looks good (speculative)
- decent 25-ish fuel mileage with real world driving (I get about 23 real world out of the genesis)
-homelink/Bluetooth/autodim rear view/hid's required.

I was hoping the CLA wasn't going to be such a pos. I was really considering that for a while. Then I saw the back. :/ Then I saw the problems. Then I saw it's not RWD. then I saw they are making an AMG model for 45k. and that's the car i'd want, but it's 20 grand too much.

7k rpm redline. that sux

Yeah, that's what having the 2.4 does to it, and for what? A slightly higher pathetic torque number?

This thing is going to be the slowest of the sport compact pack either way (unless they actually do decide to give it some F/I one of these days), so might as well at least make it a high RPM VTAK screamer like a Honda should be...

all it would need is a tiny quick spooling turbo and some decent suspension and it would be a blast.

I have a 2013 Civic EX. It's a perfect daily driver and I drove a lot of econo-boxes. It's by far the best of the japanese cars. Luckily my wife bought a Sonic in 2012 so I already knew that transmission turned to shit a few years in.

12k Miles on my car and I couldn't be happier, especially after turning off eco-mode. I get the same gas mileage with it off that I got when it was on, and now I can pass people.

As for the sports car side of things...if you want a Honda buy a second hand S2000, they really haven't made anything that can touch it, and now you can get sub 50k miles S2Ks for like 18-20k, so why not?

Go drive the SI before you knock on it. It has a sweet shifting gear box, a great sounding engine, and still has an old school lsd. The torquier competition they refer to costs at least a couple $k more comparably equipped. The car has a smidge too much body roll, but the biggest limiting factor is the stock all season tires. The thing is though - these stock tires are actually worth a shit in the winter. Something you won't get on the other cars.
