Yeah so...similar to my switch to T-Mobile(phone comes in today)...wife and I looked at other expenses just to try to cut back so we can save more...and looked at cars....She has a Nissan Rogue and only wants an SUV and there really isn't anything else out there getting better gas mileage than hers so she's decided to stick with hers.

I went to a bunch of different dealers....its tough trading in a truck but after grueling hours this weekend up until about an hour ago....I ended up with a Black 2014 BMW 328 Diesel Xdrive, premium pkg, nav package and cold weather package.... Lowered my payment $10 a month but the big savings is in the gas. 38MPG vS 14MPG 15 gallon tank VS 29 gallon tank. I always used 93 Oct for the truck going to Diesel is no bigger...it's actually the same as 93 around where I get gas 3.99 for D vs 3.99 for 93 Oct.

I filled up 36 times over 12 months. At about $4/G that's about $3016.

Figuring the same commute at 38MPG(which people are getting on fuelly.com), I'm looking at 16 fuel ups at $60 a pop at $4/G which is about $960 in fuel. That's $2065 a year in gas savings.

I also get all my maintenance for 4 years(3 year lease though), oil, wipers, brakepads, rotors, etc... which I do not get on the Titan which is some savings there as well. Some quick math indicates some savings of about $38/m over 36 months.

So over all with the cell phone and car switch...I am looking at about $240/m savings...not bad...

Ok flame on over getting a BMW...go..

Love those diesels and it has AWD.

Get me some pictures.

What are you going to do for truck duties?

Picking the car up around 5ish tonight i'll take some pics

Brother in Law has a brand new HEMI if I need a truck :)....I just really haven't used it all that much, the bed that is. I picked up my tractor with it and that is it. Thing is, I love driving a truck....If they ever come out with a truck that gets 30MPG and doesn't cost $55,000, I'm back in truck, no doubt about it.

So let me get this right. You are looking to cut costs so you decided to get a BMW lease...?
Bold move.
How much was your downpayment and are you factoring that into the monthly cost over the term of the lease?

$1500 down and no didn't factor it in because that money would have gone toward another car after my lease was up anyway....even if I bought my truck out at the end of the lease that $1500 was going toward to buy out as a down payment.

I looked at a bunch of cars, Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, Audi A3/4, Lexus 300Hybrid, Lexus was out of their minds, I was at 635/m,
Audi was around 480/500 respectively, and Lincoln wasn't to bad at $501/m but that included my property taxes(ford/Lincoln include this in the payments by taking the average of your state taxes, which I really like)

I actually went to Kia as well to look at an Optima Hybrid cause I honestly like the way those cars look..and my other brother in law has a 2011 and loves it, he was coming from a V6 Accord...but here is the thing...I won't be happy driving a Kia, let's be honest...and they weren't given me a good trade in on my truck and my payment was $390/m....im not paying $390 for a KIA

bottom line... signing up for new debt never increases your net worth.
if you're happy with your decision in the now, then that's all that matters, in the now.

i wouldnt pay $390/mo for an optima either. i'm very happy at $305/mo with my '14 VT. i usually put $375-400 toward each payment anyways.

i bet that thing comes with some 10 inch wide wheels lol

car drives reallly nice...better than my 2012 infiniti...way better....wife sat in the back said its deceptively roomy back there....again more then the 2012 Infiniti...

35 MPG so far but I have only driven it 5 miles out of the 65 it had it on it...I'm expecting that to increase some. This car has some crazy technology in it, internet built in for one. Car shuts off if your stopped for more than 3 seconds which saves gas I guess. They showed me so much shit I forgot most of it already...
