This went around the office yammer today...

C B & A are all safe because circle with cut out has less mass than full circle and fulcrum of lever appears to be equal distance (2 units) from both weighted objects
circumference of circle = approx 6.28 units, long side of triangle = 5 units, plus .5 units before the ramp and after the ramp = approx 6 units.
cutout in circle will be towards the top of the arc, or at the very least, will not be on the bottom where it would prevent D's head from being crushed.
assuming both circles/spheres are made from same density material

that is my answer, i tried googling the answer as it seemed a simpler solution than working out the problem but i found no results.
 
my catch is, are we supposed to assume one dies?

If one MUST die, i say D. Without crunching the numbers on the distance and intervals. If nobody MUST die, I'd say that nobody actually dies.
 
I think
A dies D gets his head in the hole and skirts by, then it goes on the teeter totter. there's a stopper there, but i think it's more of a ramp considering all the momentum coming down the hill, that wedge won't be enough to stop it... but it's also not heavy enough to crush C. So, it hits the wedge, but it acts as a rmap instead, clearing B and landing on A

given enough time every one of them is assuming room temperature
 
E dies, because when everyone else survives after a mass attempted murder....he will get mutilated.

i think:
B dies, even if the hole missing in the rolling doesnt fall in a place to save D, it would be sufficient for it to cause a little bounce and allow it avoid smashing D. then, as stated above the missing section will cause the rolling stone to be lighter than the sitting stone so that little see saw wont move causing the rolling stone to bounce up when it hits that little ramp and land on B. sorry B, but you're out. lol.
 
I voted D, then read all the way down. People are forgetting Pi*r^2

ETA:
And that the mass of the ball (or disc?) with the cut out is less than that of the full ball, so it won't lift the full ball more than half height.
