Oh, I do a little here and there.
So, the plan is to swap my d16a6 from my 90 civic si into my friend's 93 cx hatch, obd0 motor in obd1 car. Also, I want a D15b vtec in my 90 civic si..I'm sure the information is somewhere on this site but I have had trouble getting an exact answer...

My buddy knows how to drop my a6 into his obd1 hatch. BUT- I have questions about putting the obd1 d15b into my EF hatch SI.

I want to use the same cable tranny, will it bolt right up and which clutch should I put in it since it's going out?

Also, I'm a little confused on the OBD conversion...As far as I myself can gather, I will need to do some wiring. Question is, can I just drop the D15B into my EF si with existing harness or do I have to find an obd1 chassis harness? I know rywire has a vtec subharness. I just need a basic walkthru for putting a D to D swap obd1 into EF. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
 
yea, the cable trans will bolt right up, as long as its a d series trans. and the clutch kit needs to match the trans that youre using.

in order for the VTEC to work properly, you need to use the OBD1 VTEC ECU - this means that you need to convert your car to OBD1 - you use your existing chassis harness and your existing D16A6 engine harness - you need to purchase an OBD0 to OBD1 VTEC ECU jumper harness in order to plug your OBD0 chassis harness into the OBD1 ECU - if you get the ECU jumper from a reliable source, like Boomslang, it will have the wires incorporated into it that you will need for the VTEC, 4-wire O2 sensor, etc. - there are a couple of other wiring changes that you will need to make - the D15B VTEC engine has the MAP sensor on top of the throttle body - your D16A6 had the MAP on the firewall - you need to unplug the connector for the MAP on the firewall, extend the three wires on the connector so that it will reach the throttle body and then just plug it into the MAP on the throttle body - you will need to change the wiring to the distributor as the connectors are different - you can either purchase an OBD0 to OBD1 distributor jumper so that it is just plug and play or you need to swap the distributor connector from an OBD1 engine harness onto your OBD0 D16A6 engine harness - if you are using the injectors that come on the D15B engine, you will need to eliminate the injector resistor box, and it is best to swap the injector wiring from the OBD1 engine harness to replace the D16A6 injector wiring - if you remove the tape and the black plastic wire loom from that portion of your engine harness, you will find that the injector wiring is like a separate little harness - you need to connect the yellow/black wire that went to the injector resistor box to all of the (4) yellow/black wires coming from the injector connectors - you can just solder all (5) 7yellow/black wires together or use the dead end connector from an OBD1 engine harness - on the D16A6, the cooling fan switch is on the back of the block next to the oil filter - on the D15B, the cooling fan switch is on the thermostat housing - you need to remove the big round black rubber boot from the D16A6 engine harness connector, cut the wires (one black and one yellow/green) right at the end, extend these wires so that they will reach the thermostat housing and install a 2-wire connector from the OBD1 engine harness so that you can plug it into the OBD1 switch - you will need a 4-wire O2 sensor - everything else should on the D16A6 engine harness should just plug right in - you will have one connector on the D16A6 harness that won't be used - it is the connector for the Fast Idle Control Valve on the back of the D16A6 intake manifold, closest to the driver's side - it is a 2-wire connector with one blue wire and one black/yellow wire - just tape it up to the side of the harness
