Wife currently drives a 2004 CRV that's up to about 150k miles.

We've been talking about upgrading her for a while and we really like the new styling on the 2015 CRV, so we pulled the trigger.

2015 CRV EX-L AWD with Navigation, 34k out the door. I think the price is pretty good with all things included. We kept her old CRV since even with 150k it runs like a champ and I've been meticulous with maintenance so I know it has a lot of life left. We figure a 3rd car is handy since most of my family live out of state so now they have a car to use when they fly down to visit.

CVT transmission is a little funky to get used to. Its weird not feeling the gear changes. I will say the CVT gives a nice power band, especially in the 45-70 mph range. Getting from 45 to 70 on the highway takes no time at all.

You would be surprised what that old CR-V is worth. Those cars have amazing resale value.

I like those CRV's. The MMC version is vastly improved over the 2012-14. I think you are spot on with the CTV. They suck for enthusiastic driving - being slow off the line and slow to downshift. But they do get into the perfect gear for passing situations and climbing hills. I had a rental CVT Altima in the Rockies, and was surprised how well the transmission adjusted itself for the hills.

Yeah off the line they are a bit slow. The other car we test drove for comparison was a Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0T. Which has a whole lot more horsepower, but really it didn't feel much faster than the CRV. Add to that the fact that the Hyundai was more expensive and the back seat was very cramped for an adult basically made our decision to stick with Honda.

I tried to get my wife to at least look at it, but she wasn't interested. When they don't like the look of it, there isn't much you can do.

I did look at the specs on it though and noticed the rear leg room was lacking a little bit. But those measurements are all a bit subjective. The Santa Fe says it has more than the CRV, but in reality when a 6 ft tall driver is in the front seat you are way more cramped than in the CRV in the same situation.

@BigJ told me not to buy one of these since my gf already has a mommy-mobile as he calls it. I think the cx-5 is a GREAT looking mid size SUV and would have been $15k less than the CRV.

I think its a great looking car too. You should get your lady to upgrade to a cx-5. No self respecting man should also drive a mom mobile ESPECIALLY if you don't have kids or a dog to haul. This comes from a dood who's lady carries his balls in one of her fancy purses.

sooooo...when are you replacing the tc? :lmao:

The CX-5 was originally on my long list of options, but wife again didn't really like the styling.

Also the pricing doesn't look that far off from the CRV, not sure how I would have gotten it for 15k less unless it was the most base model and even then you're talking thousands under MSRP.

TC is a chick's car, but when I was 19 and bought this bad boy. MAN. It was so nice. Now 8.5 years later.... Kinda clunky?

But I own it, and its stupid reliable, and real cheap to own. And not a mom mobile still. But a mom mobile would probably beat me in a street race.

tC is high on insurance for kids. Had the highest pullover/citation rate of any car. The WRX was closed. Because, dumb kids.

The Cx5 and Cx3 are garbage.

I went with an Explorer and couldn't ve happier. Could have gotten an XLT with good options for a similar price with similar gas mikage. I just wish the Explorer didn't have a third row of seats, even though they're powered and stow, it would be better for my use. In 2012 they moved the Explorer to a car platform from a truck platform. My Limited has more things than either of my Audis or BMW. Heated seats, cooled seats, heated rear seats, navigation, back up cam and sensor, sync, satdlute radio, remote start, power liftgate, xenon headlights, etc.

Got a 2013 CPOd with 21000 miles for $31000.

If you have any money left over, buy yourself something real nice Clark.

Any man with a wife has had this conversation. My wife wanted a Camaro with a tiny back seat. I talked her into a black bus on 22in Foose rims called a Yukon XL Denali. You ought to see the crazy looks I get entering the freeway. Six bucket seats can haul ass and burn gas.

That's a nice rig, and it sounds like you pile on miles, so congrats!

So she drives around with 8 empty seats and gets 10 mpg. Makes sense to me.
A valid point.

My wife, myself, two kids, and two friends=6

We don't usually drive by ourselves. Usually 3-4 people. On road trips, the kids get the third row and watch a movie. Almost like not having them there, priceless.

I paid $19,300, two years ago. There was a list of basic repairs that needed done which I tackled one by one. It gets 17-18 on the freeway, with full time AWD, and a 400hp 6.2 litre engine. Seriously, it's a blast to drive.
