So after accumulating enough Marriott and US Airway points from my work travels...we finally choose a vacation for this year. Total cost $300(fee's and taxes)

6 nights at JW Marriott Cancun Resort and Spa. Resort looks amazing and has really good reviews

Should be a pretty good time. Never been to Cancun, always thought it was a spring breaker kind of area. Anyone ever been? Any expectations for Cancun?

Man that looks legit. Let me know how it goes. I'm looking for honeymoon destinations right now for next year april time.

Be careful of sea snakes in the ocean. Have fun!
wtf I hate snakes, seriously lol....for real? now I have to google that shit

Will do, I don't think you can go wrong with a Marriott but if it was me and a honeymoon I would do an all inclusive. We Did Secrets Maroma Beach and it was just insanely awesome.

I was just there at Christmas. Spent 8 days there.

1) go to chichen itza. we actually rented a car. $125 for a Fiat convertible. It was amazing. Way better than a bus. Unless you want to get shitfaced the whole time.

2) keep change handy. ride the buses everywhere. don't use the cabs. Cancun is literally like the vegas strip, but with a beach. it's gated off so locals don't really go there.

3) it's not cheap. basically the same as eating in the U.S. if you can afford it, you MUST go to Puerto Madero http://www.puertomaderorestaurantes.com/en/. We also ate at La Destileria http://www.ladestileria.com.mx/

4) Take a ferry to Isla Mujeres and rent a golf cart. Buy a cooler, fill it with a beer and chips and have a fun day.

Pro Tip: Spend a day at an all inclusive. You can get there early and pay per person. It's about $100 per day, but if you include all your meals, drinks, pools, etc, it's totally worth it. We sat through a timeshare pitch at Moon Palace and got our days for $25 each. So only $50. We signed up at a booth located at Chichen Itza. Moon Palace also paid for our cab to get there and back, which was $70 US.

We also spent a day at Beach Palace. But Moon Palace was better.

My bad, I got Cancun mixed up with Puerto Vallarta. Seems the sea snakes are only a problem on the pacific side. You only have to worry about snakes on the land in Cancun. Sorry for the false alarm! :)

Prepping for the big trip -- Thailand in december

Never been out of the states. Terribly afraid of flying. That spot definitely looks friggin killer though.

You do realize that about 632882664738x more people have died in car wrecks than plane crashes. Unless you have a bad experience, your fear is unreasonable and irrational.

You are missing out on a lot of world. If there is anything I have NEVER regretted spending money on; it is travel.

We honestly don't plan on or have any interest in leaving the resort much. Might venture out to town to grab a few things for lunches to put in the mini fridge for the week to keep costs down a bit but that's about it. I'm more of a drinking all day in the pool, floating around on a tube, with some laying out on the chair kind of vacation guy. I usually read a book.

I'll do the venturing out site seeing thing when we plan Ireland and Italy in the future.

I have a ton of vacations coming up this year, mostly down to Baltimore for baseball though :)

Also will be in DC 4/6 & 4/7
Disney in October

Also bought a travel trailer a few weeks back so we're doing a ton of camping this year!
