Gearhead extraordinaire!
1993 Civic (will update when i determine DX for sure)
D15b7 engine
5 spd
OBD1 (Fair certainty, had another 93 all power civic auto trans was OBD1)
(More tech specs to come, will adjust these as I determine for sure)

I have a 1996 Accord EX?
F22b1 engine
5 spd
ODB2 (other years/models were OBD1 same engine)

MY GOALS:
1. Swap the F22b1 into the 93 civic
Drive the car faster. (See questions under #1 below)
Christen the car a Dragster.

2. Swap an H head and intake manifold onto the F22b1.
Drive the car even faster. (We'll get to questions here MUCH LATER)

3. Turbo
DRIVE THE CAR WAY FASTER (Again lets worry about this upon completion of 1st goal.)

#1 questions:

Upon research for half a day now, with understanding that not EVERYTHING I read on the internet is true:

Can I make this swap without modifying Civic engine bay?
IF so, any advice as to ECU's, mounting issues, transmissions would be grand!
Mounting issues VS. Axels, Suspension, etc.

Can I drop the F22b1 right onto the Civic 5 speed? (NON-Swappable forums were saying basically yes)

Can I make this swap easier by dropping an OBD1 harness on to the F22b1?
DO I REALLY WANT TO? (OBD2 is easier to diagnose due to more codes and refined checks, IMHO)

What's the status of my power steering, AC, Radiator, Brake Master Cyl (any other issues on engine bay size vs. F22b1?)

I'm not allowed in the Swap Forum so I placed this here, I realize it could go in Civic forums too, but determining which Civic I have will determine that I suppose!

It will fit in your car (which is obd 1 by the way) with the proper mount kit. It's expensive though, http://hasport.com/store/index.php/mounts.html?cat=32&SID=iasmd8fcn7ov4iq1d4iqqlkq52 There are other mfg'ers with slighter cheaper prices but also lessor fit/quality. h/f are nearly identical in shape

your tranny is a d-series and will nto bolt up to the f22. youll need an f or h tranny to use with it (along with that mount in the mount kit). The h/f trannies are cable, not linkage, so you'll need the full shifter assembly set up conversion as well. f-series trannies are very weak, and if turbo is your goal, and h-series is what you need.

the only good reason to go through with obd2 wiring hassel is if emissions in your area requires it. Otherwise, obd1 is far easier/less complicated to wire up. You'll be able to use your car harness from the civic, run an obd1 f22 ecu, and then just swap the dist, injectors, and alt, and wire in vtec if your car doesn't have it (dx does not). if you opt to use a chipped p28 or similar, you'll need to run a resistor box on the inkectors, as the accord is peak/hold and the civic computer wants saturated.

axels, are a pain... 1990 Manual Accord Intermediate Shaft with Left and Right 90-93 Integra Axles (with prelude inner cv joint on the right axle), or you can order the ones that fit from hasport again.. http://hasport.com/store/index.php/accessories/axles/h-ax.html and again, expensive, but you won't have to buy a whole axel just to use parts of it....

It's a lot of work for 20 hp.

Honestly man, I'd do a z6 head swap on your dx block, and throw a small turbo on that. It will be cheaper and easier and probably just as if not faster. and then you still get to sell the f22

What Brian said. No need to reinvent the wheel for 20hp. Or order a JDM D15b from Hmotorsonline. Loved mine the last 5 years. Peppy and still gets excellent mpg.

That's about what I've gathered so far. I'd make my own mounts, or modify some new ones.
Are we talking all 4 mounts, or will one side line up?
No engine bay mods right?

Back to F22b1, the reason I wanted the F22 was b/c I understood it was one of the best stock above 2.0 with the most possiblity in head swaps esp for DOHC, coupled with the OBD1 readiness, I obviously want to bore, (alum-alloy sleeve nickel coated, dunno if that's possible on that engine) port, polish, etc.

Are there any mainstream superchargers for small honda engines? (just a side note)

The idea is to work with what I've got for maximum economy.

That being said, I know how to barter! :D

Now how bout a backward V8 setup in a civic?
I've got a buddy and this is one of our goals, we'll get her done eventually, but if someone else has done it...it's that much easier!
Our goal is actually a mid engine civic, true mid engine. Not perched on 1 axle with a skew on weight ratio.

Thanks for the info!

Making your own mounts is a mistake. If you're off by even a mm, you can have axel binding, transmission synchro issues, etc.

Jackson used to make an SC for the d16z6. not sure they are still in business, but they're around on the used market i'm sure.

putting a v8 in a civic has been done, but really, if you have to ask, it's not going to happen. massive work and fabbing and thousands of dollars in parts.

what's the point of a mid engine civic? 50 grand later, you could've bought an nsx that is actually worth something and drives proper lol
