I'm pondering a possible swap, and i'm not sure if it will work. I have a 90 civic hatch with a D15B1, SOHC, DPFI motor, and I'm looking at a D15B JDM complete motor, tranny, and ECU swap. The thing is, the JDM is out of a 92 civic, and I was wanting to know if the engine & tranny mounts will bolt in, or will I need to do some modifications for it to sit in there? My other concern is the axle shafts, I'm guessing mine will not work? And, my last concern is the wiring harness, I'm figuring I'll have to fabricate my own harness to tie all this together. Can anyone tell me what difficult level I'm looking at to put all this together?

I read some of the FAQ's, but was a little cornfused about the ZC stuff... Would this motor be considered a ZC?

Suggestions, comments all appreciated, as I'm a newbie tuner, and not sure if I want to jump into something this deep yet.

It's not a ZC unless it's stamped "ZC" on the block.

It should bolt right in to your car, but you'll have to do something with the transmission because the 92 has a hydraulic clutch. Your stock clutch is cable actuated.

Your stock axles should work- all the D series inners are the same. The outers are what's different (depending on trim level of the car), but as long as you run the stock axles and spindles together you're ok.

Wiring- you'll have to convert to MPFI and OBD1.

92-95 transmission will not bolt into your car unless you fabricate all new mounts - you would also have to fabricate/modify the clutch pedal and install clutch master cylinder and hydraulic line - the engine mount on the driver's side end will not fit your chassis - you will need to swap the mount from your D15B1 engine onto the new D15B - your car being a 4 speed has the smaller axles and hubs - would suggest you swap knuckles/hubs/axles from DX/Si in order to use the larger axles (don't have to, but with the extra power it is not a bad idea) - and as Calesta said, you have some wiring work to do

ZCs are 1.6L

Guys thanks for the info! :) I decided to hold off on the swap thing, and I've torn my engine down. I'm going to rebuild it and play for a bit, before I get into the swap thing.

Thanks again!

Will the axles from a d15b2 fit in a d15b vtec
which axles you use is determined by the transmission and front hubs - has nothing to do with the engine - with the stock transmission and stock front hubs, you use the stock axles
