No wonder the CPSC hates go karts

I just got one this past weekend off craigslist for $50, rebuilt the carb, and got a new torque converter belt. Finally got to ride it around the property tonight.

For only 6HP and 12ft/lb of torque, it's really fast. Like did 25 mph in the blink of an eye fast. I was legitimately sure I was going to roll it over more than once.

It's got live rear axle, torque converter, and a 6HP Tecusemh engine. Brakes are actually pretty good, and steering lock to lock is about .25 rotations on the wheel. It's amazing.

I need more land.

A 10 sec video of the kart doing nothing? Don't you have a gopro, or uav cameras? Make a video of you riding around in it.

There would be a video like that, but the chain broke last night, so it's not going to do anything but nothing until I can get a new chain today.

TSC probably has #35 chain. If they don't, all I need is a master link, so I can probably rig it together with a welder.

This thing doesn't need any more power. Seriously. It's got a 6HP engine, and it doesn't need anything more. It's already fast enough to tear ass.

Maybe in the future I'll consider some mods to my spare Predator 212 engine, but for now, the 6HP Tecumseh OHH60 is more than enough. lol.

The brakes aren't bad, but the chain jumps like a mother, causing it to jam and lock up without any warning, heh.

Just get a k-series call it an Ariel.

Saw one of those getting on the highway last week a few cars ahead of me... Within a minute I couldn't see it anymore.

I built a go kart a few years ago that had a 5hp Briggs engine that I had modified and removed the governor on with gearing that I was able to get up to 45-50 mph on a long straight road. I had actually drawn up plans to make a makeshift 2 speed transmission with a jack shaft and some centrifugal clutches with gearing to theoretically get close to 100mph. It never happened though. :(

I had a go-kart when i was 10 years old. I don't know how fast it was, but I decided to take it on a public road out in hillbillie town. My dad saw me pass two cars. Followed me home and proceeded to beat the living shit out of me. lesson learned. lol

similar to above.
I had one of these, got into lots of trouble with it.
Wrecked it a few times, flipped it a few times.
Honestly surprised I have survived this long in life.

What is a CPSC?

Also had a buddy next door when growing up with one of these. Thing was a blast.

Maybe tonight I'll have time to get it tearing trenches in my yard again tonight.

Maybe I'll get to the gokart this weekend. I'm still at work, and will be for at least another two hours.

Hopefully I can swing at least some time off today. As much as I like OT, the sleep is what I miss. I got home at 0415 last night, and I've been here at work since 0745.

Maybe I'll get the clutch put together, chain made, and the thing moving under its own power again today.

you could push it, or tow it across the finish line....

gear up y0!

It runs. It's scary. Almost no control, almost no traction, almost no stopping power.

It's awesome. Check out the video too.

Yeah, it doesn't turn very well at low speeds, and the brake SUCKS.

EDIT: Updated the video link to one with GPS.
