Well, we got the car together and got it to Colorado for testing, and had a rod bolt break and blew the stroker motor. We picked up a B16 from Philip at Intercrew in Dallas on the way back to Houston from Colorado, overnighted pistons and rods from Brian Crower, sent the head to H Squared Race Engines to replace a few valves and check it over, and then a few days later had it back to Jason Herrera of Stoopidfast for a new tune. The smaller bottom end made 350whp on low boost, and we figured that was plenty for what we were working with. Made it to Pikes and had a ton of issues during race week practice, ranging from car not wanting to run to a control arm fastener detaching itself from the car to having a minor crash to blowing the head gasket on Friday and changing it Saturday morning before the car had to be on the mountain. Race day saw more frustration, with several red flags pushing my run late in the day - we qualified almost last due to the control arm fastener coming off during qualifying. Wound up overheating due to the fans not coming on (haven't tracked that down yet, the manual switch works but they didn't come on automatically as they should at 180*) and wound up DNF'ing the race.
Phooey.
That's racing!
