Can you get it fixed in time for the race, and how does this affect you for the race?

Picked up a stock B16A from Philip at Intercrew today on my way back to Houston. I'm not sure the extent of the damage yet, won't be able to get it torn down until this weekend. I'm financially fucking exhausted as it is already, and this was a HUGE kick in the dick. Looks like a rod bolt failed, but will have to tear it down to know more.

At the very least, I'll be at the race with a low-boost stock-block B16.

Will update more later. I need some fucking sleep.

Well, we got the car together and got it to Colorado for testing, and had a rod bolt break and blew the stroker motor. We picked up a B16 from Philip at Intercrew in Dallas on the way back to Houston from Colorado, overnighted pistons and rods from Brian Crower, sent the head to H Squared Race Engines to replace a few valves and check it over, and then a few days later had it back to Jason Herrera of Stoopidfast for a new tune. The smaller bottom end made 350whp on low boost, and we figured that was plenty for what we were working with. Made it to Pikes and had a ton of issues during race week practice, ranging from car not wanting to run to a control arm fastener detaching itself from the car to having a minor crash to blowing the head gasket on Friday and changing it Saturday morning before the car had to be on the mountain. Race day saw more frustration, with several red flags pushing my run late in the day - we qualified almost last due to the control arm fastener coming off during qualifying. Wound up overheating due to the fans not coming on (haven't tracked that down yet, the manual switch works but they didn't come on automatically as they should at 180*) and wound up DNF'ing the race.

Phooey.

That's racing!

I discovered the problem. You know too many Nick's. Get more diverse friends next time and maybe things will be better :D

Car came out killer man. It may not have been the best run and shit happens, but you had fun, made memories, and made us all pretty proud.

Thank you for the publicity.

I can only say a few things. You did an awesome job with the car, I wish you had more time to get the motor to where you wanted it, but crap happens to motors built to be beat on. If you were able to go full retard on that secondary motor and go that fast, I can't imagine what you could do with the original motor if everything went the way you expected, and if you had the gearbox and suspension that you wanted for the race. It was a rushed "all balls on the wall" race, and you did better than what others are afraid to even attempt. You have my utmost respect, and I'm glad that you made that car move even one mile on it's own power....and sexy while it was doing it. I hope to see more of it in the future with a "Wil's Attitude and Perseverance installed with a side of Ketchup".

Good job buddy, wish I could share a beer with you.

I agree with everything that's been said above. Awesome job man, especially given everything you had going on this year.

So, the red 255 on your screen was the temp of the engine, right?

That was ether the sensor maxing out or the display reaching the upper displayable limit, I believe. Actual temp was probably much higher.

Yeah, the sensor data is probably two-digit hexadecimal, so 255 leads me to believe that it was maxed out from like 3:20.

Besides, if it reads any higher than 255, your still screwed. Heh.

What are the plans for the car now? Part out? Rebuild? Sell whole?

I vote sell it back to Clayton if he wants it. I bet he can catch a lot of fish with it.

Great job man this thread give me a tight pants scenario in the frontal region
