Can I turn my D16 Non-Vtec to D16 Vtec?, and what do i need?

Just Bought a 2000 Civic Hatch with a D16 Non-Vtec...would love to turn into D16 Vtec...what do i need to do such thing and where and which motor do i get it from and get decent power out of it ,maybe Boost it.....

i believe you can make it vtec get a y8 head (try to do 99-00) d16y8 head vtec ecu and harness and i might be missing some things but i know you do need that for sure.

You need head, Y8 OBD2B ECU because your car is a 2000, Y8 fuel injectors, a knock sensor, and Y8 5 speed IACV, intake manifold, and throttle body if your car is a 5 speed. You also need to perform the IACV 3 wire to 2 wire fix and add wires for VTEC. Again this is all asuming you have a 5 speed car.

But it's called a mini-me swap look it up there's tons of write ups on it.

Be very careful of where and what condition you buy your're parts though.
I did this swap about a year ago without checking. And the head was warped, some valves were bad, plus new hg, new head studs, and small things the whole thing ended up being like $900. I cold have done an LS swap for that. (which I eventually did)

What about the exact same swap but on a 5 speed 96 ex? Would it be the same since its the same gen or what stuff would I need?

Isn't an EX already VTEC with a D16Y8?
