j/w what the different specs are on a b16 and b18 (as far as bore, rod length, etc.). Someone told me if i put a b16 crank in a b18 w/ b18 rods and pistons it would stroke it to a 1.9L. is this true or is he full of shit?

thanx for the info.

for specs go to the reference section ... its all in there

for the B16 stroking a B18 to a 1.9 i think hes full of shit

He's full of shit. If you put a B16 crank into a B18 block you'll have B16 displacement in a B18 block regardless of what rod length you use.

B16
Bore = 81mm
Stroke = 77mm
Rod = 134.6mm

B18
Bore = 81mm
Stroke = 89mm
Rod= 137mm

I'm just recalling the rod lengths off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure they're right. You might try consulting our reference section too.

k thanx a lot! i didnt even think about checking the reference sec. for some reason.

stroke is soley based on the crankshaft
and displacement is boreXstroke

Whoops, I was wrong- the rod length on the B16 is 134.36 not 134.6. Not that much different, but my rod/stroke ratio check calculation was coming out wrong.

If you put a b20B crank in a B18 it increases to 2.0 or somewhere close is what I was told, is that correct?

no, the cranks are the same. b20 has a 84mm bore, thats why it has 2.0l

I happen to disagree becaust the bore is the same on b 16 b18 and b18 but they all have diff displacements. the stroke and rod size and dech height do increase the stroke has to do with it just like if you just add a bigger crank to a 302 you get a 310. but now a b17 rods wont fit in a b18 block! because of the shortness of them so you have to try it an see

They all have different displacements because they have different cranks which changes the stroke. Where are you disagreeing with me, I can't make sense out of your statement.

Wow
usually I'm like "he posted that 3 years ago, it's pointless to bring this back up"
but there you are with a rebuttal.
Amazing.

:)

Its not pointless if there is value add to the topic at hand. Lets wait and see. :)

actually I would be interested in hearing more about minnisvtec trying to put B17 slugs in a B18, I was looking to try this
