hmotorsonline shows that you can get an LSD transmission if you add 300$s my question is, is it worth the extra $$?

I suppose I could but your question did only call for a yes/no answer....

really simply- LSD's help you put more of the power you have down to the ground
they won't give you more power, just help you use it more effectively

do some research on LSD's and you will understand why you want one, what engine are you thinking of buying?

what are you going to be using your car for?

3 basic types....

viscous [pretty much worthless if it is old, but decent for a daily driver car]
clutch [best for drag racing... this is a true LSD]
helical [better for auto-x or road racing, not really a LSD, actually a "torque biasing differential]

spend an hour or so on google, or just go over to the quaife website and read up

oops, looks like you have a 90 crx and want a b16
that generation of b16 has either a clutch type dif or a viscous.... ask in the EF/DA forum and someone should know better, I have an EG and mine came with a helical type diff

I'd still say it is worth the extra cash, unless you think you might buy an aftermarket one that would suit you better like a quaife or peloquin or something

id definitely go quaife if i were going aftermarket, but at this point im not sure ill have the cash for it, thus why im seriously considering the extra 300$

do you want better traction? spend the 300, its worth it.

yep, get the factory LSD

unless you are hardcore serious and have the money right away to put in a better LSD, but it doesn't sound like you are so just put up the extra $300 and you will be happy... I know that I am

and if you haven't bought the motor yet, I would suggest giving Jeremy from Japan Direct a call and find out if they have that engine in stock
I got my b16 from them and it has been great, they don't sell junk and they didn't jump of the F&F bandwagon like some motor importers did, they have been around for a long time and are listed with the BBB and have really good pricing

I got my engine and as a bonus they also gave me the entire front suspension, fusebox, all the wiring was uncut and complete all the way back to the ecu

thats not a bad deal... the best i've seen is the 1.5 way limited slip offered by spoon racing.... obviously its a little more expensive... do u know the level of limited slip on it... ? but yea thats not a bad deal, and if ur car is tuned go for it

Same here. Got two of them... love them both. One's for sale too. :)

In reply to the earlier post- the OEM LSD isn't a "bad LSD" at all. It's very capable. It just doesn't come with a lifetime warranty like Quaife's LSD.
