Hi folks. Ive got a 1996 Civic Hatch DX and I'm curious on your folks opinions on what to put in it. Im not rich here so im looking for a more budget application, definately no forced induction or nitrous, and most likely just all the bolt ons and a few minor mods done to it. Intake, exhaust, headers, cams, intake manifold maybe, msd, and maybe a few other things (any suggestions appreciated) I want to make sure the motor is stamped legal and be as street legal as possible, or at least appear to be (here in california.. i hate this place)

So if you could give me your opinion on which motor and why, that'd be great. feel free to nominate a different motor if you see fit.

thanks, :D

So far i'm leaning towards LS with maybe a gsr tranny and aftermarket intake manifold or something.... but im not sure yet

B18B. Easiest install, tons of torque, tons of options later on. You might try for a B20B/Z also if you can scrounge one up for the same amount of cash.

O btw, I Love my LS hatch, I love being able to chirp 3rd. All-motor this engine has been known to be able to hit 13s (theres a thread on it somewhere). Turbo this is also a good engine to boost stock..,medium compression/medium boost works well. Can also be a frankenstien, LS/VTec's are quick too

Thats what I'm thinking too. Or maybe a B20_ block.

if you go with an LS, use a B16 Tranny - mad short gears y0!

Thanks for all your opinions folks... I do believe my initial thought was right.

LS power Mmmmmm...

Found a good deal on a skunk2 big ass intake manifold for an LS today... Now i just need to get the motor! hah

if you are on a budget definately go with LS, you should even be able to find an obd2 ls and then you won't have to do any obd conversion.... but deffinately find a b16 or gsr tranny for it and you will be much happier... I think
or maybe you can just get a different final drive set for the ls trans... that would accomplish the same thing as getting a different tranny

good luck
