What is secondary vtec, I found a p72 ecu, and the guy listed the specs:VTEC at 4800 rpm
VTEC at 4800 rpm

Secondary VTEC at 5750 rpm

Redline at 9200 rpm

Advanced Timing

Here is the page

He's probably talking about the secondary intake runners on the GSR (also found on the VTEC Preludes). It's NOT a second stage of VTEC. VTEC hits at 5750 or whatever he said. Intake runners must open at 4800.

No the itr does not have IAB. only the B18C and H22A. it's a set of butterflies in the intake manifold controlled by the ecu.

two stage v-tec can be found on some european honda's, it works like ours with having 3 rocker arms and such but it works in 2 stages.as we know the two valves open and close at the right time and then v=tec kicks in which and they open bigger with help of the middle rocker arm.
well 2 stage v-tec works the same but when the first v=tec kicks in at lower rpm such as 5500 rpmthe middle and one other valve open bigger but one stys the same and the when stage 2 kicks in then all three are at the same level.
The system sucks and the one we have hear is far better, it was used there because u get more torque [about 10-15 more] but lose the same in horse power.
now i have only read about this in a honda manual and only seen a diagram of the system. my instructor showed me this when i was at honda learning center learnig abou the new {then} K20 engines

Abnormal cutoff Gsr vtec

Hi ... i got a b18c 2000 into civic coupe
im using V-afc2 ..
the Vtec kick at 4400rpm and it kick again at 5800rpm
sometime when i shift it at least at 6500-7000rpm ..
i got an abnormal CUTOFF at 4800rpm!!
i have to stay over 4800 to not get the cutoff
i only have to restart the ecu .. and the cutoff not happen ... until i kick it at 7000rpm again ...

vtec can't hit twice. there is only 1 vtec cam lobe. i'm not sure what you are trying to ask. take a couple minutes to rewrite what you said and we might be able to help you. also, it's better to start a new thread than bring a 3 1/2 year old thread to life, you will get a better response.

hum ok ... forget the second kick .. its only doing MORE sound at 5800
anyway .. my problem is the abnormal cutoff at 4800
like if the gas was cut at 4800
but only if im riding over 6000rpm 1 shot .. (real cutoff ...8200)
when i drop lower than 4800 and i wanna go over 4800 it cutoff !!!
when i push and release on gaz..it giving a LITTLE "shock" (little more compression)
..
i have to reset ecu (like restaring by compressure on my way) off...on
and the cutoff and compression no more there
...
i hope u'll understand my cutoff problem
sorry for my english :)
and i cannot start new post yet my account is new

where are you from?

anyways, i would possibly return everything to stock and take out your vtec controller. i don't like using a hack like a vafc.

the only way to reset your ecu it to A)pull the fuse or B)disconnect the battery. it doesn't reset simply by turning it off and restarting it.

do you have any check engine lights or anything?

when it happen ... my check engine light is awlays off
and im saying reset ecu ... by only restarting my car ...
i tought it was resetting .. but only restarting ???

your ecu has a "memory". nothing changes by turning it off and restarting it. i would disconnect the vtec controller, then reset the ecu. see if that fixes it.

Other way around.

No, it doesn't. OBDI ECUs clear CELs when you cycle the key.
