Need Performance Tuning Help

Okay, I hope I get some experienced help here and this is the right forum..

Yes, I do have a shop manual [haynes, not the best but it will do] and I need some specifics about the timing. I just did a DPFI to MPFI swap and although I am not experiencing any serious problems, I know that all the mods made to my engine, should be giving me more HP.

I have a 1.5 L, with intake[cool air], headers 4-2-1, cam[272 degr], major head work with a 10.5:1 compr., MSD, 11 lbs. flywheel..

Okay, when I start the car, bring up to operating temp, jump the connector wires under the dash, and put on the timing light, the 3 marks are all the way to the right, past the V in the belt.. now, I think that anything to the right is ADVANCED?? Is that correct? and if the marks go to the left, move to the left, then that is RETARDED?? Is that correct?

Yeah, I think so... you're not getting a readout on the timing light? You should be able to change the timing on the light and watch where the marks line up, then adjust to go advanced or retarded when you match the marks with the new light setting.
