just for the love if it
i got a question i told my girl that i would get her car equal to my car in horse power. well the problem is that i have been away from honda's so long. so my question to the guys that know whats up is i have a 04 civic ex o ya its automatic is it worth even givin it a try?

i wouldn't even try. she doesn't need a 285 hp civic. no reason for it. but then again, why would she want a car with the same amount of power?

so we can be equal in hp

that's down right retarded. buy her an sti if she wants the same power. who cares about numbers??? if she is just daily driving it, it could have 100 or 1000. if you aren't racing or competing it doesn't really matter.

i got a subaru wrx it has about 285 hp

The 01-05 Civic has been largely ignored by the aftermarket, so good luck even finding the parts to get it up to 285 hp. The only way you could really do it is to boost it, but the auto tranny is probably going to crap out on you real fast if the car were to be pushing 300 hp, so my advice would be to just forget it.

I agree with get_nick on this one, why does your g/f need the same amount of horsepower in her Civic as you have in your WRX? If you're not going to race then what's the point? The fact that she's driving an automatic Civic and thinks that it's easily possible to make it match the performance of a WRX tells me that she's pretty ignorant when it comes to tuning and probably shouldn't be driving a 300 hp car anyway.

Plus, say that you were able to get the Civic up to 300 horses...you're still talking about a completely different car with a different chassis, different suspension setup, different weight, different handling capabilities, different everything pretty much! Just because the car is putting out the same horsepower numbers doesn't mean that it's going to handle anything like yours!

Basically what I'm saying is this a dumb idea, don't waste your money on it. If she wants a faster car then she needs to buy one.

i under stand that hondas suck i just wanted to know if the car could handle the hp without breakin on me and i never said that she wont race it.

No, the tranny won't handle the power without breaking, and good luck getting that motor up to 300 horse anyway. If you seriously want to do this then swap a K20, swap a manual tranny, and go from there.

And not all Hondas suck, but an 01-05 automatic Civic pretty much does, from a performane potential standpoint anyway.

yeah, my honda soesnt suck.. it blows:D

but on a serious note.. its probably not worth the $$ to get that car = in HP..
its one of those things.. you COULD do it.. but why?
even if she races it, the auto isnt gonna be that great for it.. what kind of racing would she be doing? if shes gonna be doing more road-racing i.e. track racing.. then ditch the auto, and upgrad suspension stuff first, THEN think maybe turbo.
if she plans to run the straight line.. then plan on needing a lot of extra $$ for replacement parts

just my .02.. take it or leave it

ANY OF U GUYS KNOW HOW TO REMOVE THe Speed governor from a 96 civivc EX

wellactually the 7th gen has not really been ignored by the aftermarket at all.. although this gen civic is pretty much an econobox.. Hasport makes a mount kit for a k20 motor... If you swap in a JDM k20a type R... and do some bolt ons and a hondata k-pro.. youll have a six speed beast.. http://www.xproductionz.com/k20swap/k20swap.html thats everything needed for the swap.. Finished my tranny swap - Page 6 - 7th Gen Honda Civic Forum and thats everything you need to know abou tthe whole auto to manual tranny swap.. im pretty experienced with the EM2, if you have anyquestions just ask me id be glad to help you out.. and a great site for this year civic is 7thgencivic.com they are most tailored to your needs for that gen..
