What size Wheels/Tires should I run

Okay so I am a Compleete nOOb when it comes to Honda Cars. I have always driven big trucks with big tires. Well I went out and bought a 96 Accord Ex 4dr yesterday to help me save some $$ in gas. Well obviously I am going to have to do some mods cause I can't leave well enough alone. I will not be doing any body work or engine/tranny swaps till next year (car has to earn its keep first). For now it needs new shoes cause they are getting pretty bald. I figured that while I was at it I might as well get some wheels too, to fill in the wells a bit. I have no idea which size/backspacing works the best on this car. An important note to keep in mind is that I will be lowering about 1 1/2 inches after the body work gets done, so I think well ahead so I don't do any double spending. I don't care how silly things look as I progress cause I shoot for the bottom line/finished product. So anyway sorry for the rant. and the question remains.... What size and backspacing. Your inputs will be greatly appreciated.

upto 18" will fit under an accord without further modifications, but if you get 18" wheels then forget about comfort...
 
Okay, so If I get say..17's, what are the backspacing(offset) requirements for wider sizes taking into account fender rubbing, and brake caliper clearance. has anyone made a trial and error matrix on this?
 
I have a 99 EX V6 with 225/40/18 with a 2" drop and it looks good. The offset is about +45 with no clearance issues. If you getting body work done anyways, I would drop it and get the lip on the rear quaters rolled. It's a simple fix to avoid any rubbing if you have people in the back. It still rides really well with the 18's, if anything, the springs cause more discomfort than the wheels. The Accord is much bigger than say a Civic, so I'd go with 18's as 17's look a little small on it, but that's just my opinion. Good luck.
 
I have a 95 Honda Accord Ex 4dr with 17's and I plan on dropping it about 2 inches. In my opinion the 17's dont look small at all. they seem to fit the best and I didnt want to worry about rolling the fender wells when I drop it. plus it should leave more room for when I straight pipe it with a bigger exhaust. plus from the looks of it 18's on a 94 would be too close for my comfort since the 17's are an inch away from fenders. but if anything you could call any tire shop and Im pretty sure they could tell you what the best size to put on there would be. that and you wouldnt have to worry about trying to find 18" tires that arent too expensive to fit the wheels.

It hasn't to do with the wheels themselves, it has to do with the amount of rubber that's on them that causes the decreased comfort. Bigger rims = Less rubber = Less shock absorbtion by the rubber = Less comfort.

This is a plain fact. Try driving a car first with the 15" rims rest stock and then go to 18" rims but for the rest stock. You will know what I am talking about, you feel every dimple in the road.

It doesn't however mean that it will cause the car to not ride well.
 
Of course it has to do with the tires, you don't ride on the rims. When I said wheels, it was intended on the wheel and tire combo, not the rim itself. As I said, the springs cause more discomfort. Thanks anyways.
 
im running 18's on my accord with apex-i fully adjustable coilovers. it runs kinds roughf but handling is like on rails. if you go with 18's your going to need wheel spacer for the all 4 hubs
