About 4 days left until I am officially a homeowner. My fiancee and I are purchasing a new to us home in the Forestville section of Bristol about 1 mile away from our current condo. The condo was bought by my fiancee 4 years ago and over the past year and a half we have been making upgrades to it (search for the Bob Vila thread) now its on to a bigger and better project, one where it is OURS.

We can't wait, we are both very excited and can't wait to get settled in.

As for the new house, its a Late 40's cape in great condition, 1900 sq. ft with 3br/2 full baths on 2/3 acre. It also has LR w/Fireplace and a family room, eat in kitchen and dining room. 1 car garage and a w/d room. As always we'll be making significant changes to the place over time. It has so much character...we love it, plus the price was right as its apprasing out to be 275k+ and we paid just over 200 :) Have to love equity and getting into the house at the right time...

Anyways, a picture for now, I'll post more after the closing on Friday :)

First thing to get done is paint, and some hedge trimming / landscaping :)

nice house, looks well maintained. its funny though, because from the pic it just doesn't look as big as you described.

1900 sq ft is very decent. I live in a 1200 sqft now, and that includes the basement. It affords us a large kitchen, large living room, a computer room and the partially finished basement (Which is used to house crap) and the garage. another 700 square feet is like adding an inlaw apartment or a third bedroom.

That's a great size.

no kidding.. just from looking at the house in that pic I'd put it no more than 1100sq ft.

It has a very comfortable look to it though. Nice place!

just over 200 for that? DAMN! I need to sell my house before the market bottoms out and buy something bigger...

Like I said, we got a steal on it, thats why we're purchasing prior to our wedding in October. The equity alone is enough for us to purchase and make some updates. The house is very deceiving from the outside: here's a few more pics from when we had the inspection, it should give you an idea of how big it actually is.

Living room: ~15x17

We're closing on Friday, doing some painting and will be doing the moving in on Friday night/ Saturday :)

I assume you've had a termite/plumbing/structure inspection done? Don't lift a pen until that happens.

If the price is 75k off the mark, I'd really dig around deep just to be sure. I mean, thats almost a third of the price of the place.

FSBO :)

Inspection/Pest, etc. came back clean :)
