I have a typical B16a swap into my 00 Civic Ex Coupe. Had I known what I do now, I would've done a K20 swap instead, but..lessons learned, I'll deal with what I have now.

I'm about to rebuild the block, and purchase a new head w/ only springs and retainers upgraded along with a 3 angle valve job. I would like to use Wiseco pistons, and Eagle rods using OEM bearings and stock crank. I believe I will put a block guard on the block as well.

However, I only want to run a maximum of 10psi on the motor, since I'm leaning towards reliability. If I don't have to put high dollar pistons and rods into the block, I would rather not. If you can tell me what oversized (81.5mm) OEM pistons to use to lower compression and remain "safe" for 7-10psi daily, please inform me. 93 octane is the maximum I can use on a daily basis. I would like the power band to be between 4.5k-8k RPM's. Something around 250-300whp would be nice.

440cc injectors and Hondata S200 are the fuel and tuning that will be used. Your help is greatly appreciated.

The reason why no one replied is you said you wanted to use wiseco pistons in one paragraph and oem in the next. kinda confusing if you ask me. In the end, i would recommend you use the forged wiseco 9:1 compression pistons on the stock bore. After that a T3 60-1 will probably fit your needs now and in the future. You can definitely hit the 300hp mark at 10 psi with that turbo

If it is not necessary to use forged pistons with this boost reliably, then I don't want to spend the $600 dollars for it. I'm just trying to get opinions about it, and hopefully someone that has experienced the consequences of these decisions first hand will give me their .2 cents. I kinda figured a 60-1 was the best choice for myself, but I've not ever used that turbo, and none of my friends have either, so I don't really know if it's a good fit for the B16. Regardless, I appreciate your input.
 
Any normal sized t3 hot side will spool up quickly on a b16, so that answers your question about the Super 60 being sized adequately for the b16. The compressor will certainly suit your needs if you are only looking for around 300whp. You do not need to buy forged pistons to have a reliable motor, as the b16 will support 300whp given a conservative tune with enough fuel. That said, forged pistons would give you peace of mind, but a stock b16 bottom end will give you more power given a certain amount of boost, because of the ~10:1 compression ratio compared to the 9:1 cr of some forged pistons. You could always go with 10:1 forged pistons and have peace of mind AND more power, but that's not the question being asked. My .02.

Someone else has already made that apparent to me. Thanks for bringing it up again. :angry: I originally sent this to an admin, and in my defense, he posted this as a thread without asking me, so I didn't have a chance to edit the post before starting a thread.

Well, gotboost, if you didnt notice, both of the admins on this board specifically wrote in their signature "Do no PM me with technical questions". Thats why he made a thread and didnt ask you. Because you PMed him when he said not to.
 
Besides all the BS, you're a typical FI NOOB. People are so baffled by boosting, not that I'm some kinda pro or anything even close. People see the word turbo and automatically assume built motor, more maintenence(sp?), and grenading motors like crazy. I dont say this to insult, just to point out where all these questions are coming from.

You can boost anything with a stock motor to a point and of course with a knowledgable tuner on deck.
 
Like we tell our customers that like to throw around the word 'SAFE' 'RELIABLE'
only thing that will keep you safe is to not mod. We have seen the 'safest' of safe motors blow and stock motors last an eternity on boost.

I say if you have the option to upgrade to forged then do it, cause like any other modder, once you feel the added power at 10 psi. you'll want to go higher. Anyways 10 PSI. 5 years ago and people would have said you are nuts, but with a good tuner you will keep that car running, even with pushing the limits.

honda motors are to high compression if you have 10;1 safe is 5 pounds with no intercooler and 7pis with out ...under 7lbs a intercool just holds you back more then helps ... i like runs 8.5 to 1 and lots of boost but must run 9.5to 1 look at stock cars that are turbo they all are around 8.5 to 9.2 to 1 my have a SVX that is 10 to 1 with duel know sencers and a t3 to t4 hybred 5psi no intercooler my dsm is 8.5 to 1 right now and i run 18psi and a big intercooler if you lower your compression you can use more air back in but you have to cool it so that means a better fmic and turbo... you all so should do the math of what is your max rpm and you displacement and get what is the max cfm you need at what ever psi you what..you what you numbers in the motor now more the 14.7to1 for serpume i would run a dsm 14b there cheap the wastastgate is set at 7psi to start they will run 23psi with no proubles there set up to run with a 2L to start theres a adpter on ebay for 50dollor to run them off stock manfolds and the 14b's run about $125 i would run 7psi and a intercooler and dsm turbo and have the ecu burned for 7psi that the cheap way to go..

one of the worst typed responses I have ever seen; please take more time to read what you have typed before posting it. I took the 5 minutes to read your runon. Intercoolers are in no way a hinderance at any boost level, as any pressurizing of the intake air will heat the intake charging, lending itself to the greater possibility of detonation and preignition. An intercooler will lessen that possibility. A 14b is tiny, and will work well for a d series motor, but imo is too small for any b-series that is intended for any serious power. It'll work if you are just looking for the extra kick, but I'd not go with anything less than a t3/t4 hybrid if you want more than 250 whp. As for high compression and boost, you can't just go throwing boost numbers around, as different turbos will perform differently. Tuning will also make running high compression and boost more reliable.
