Hi guys, first post here. I just came across a 2000 civic hx 5-speed and was wondering if there are any major problems with swaping these cars as compared to the other trim levels. Maybe some advantages/disadvantages of this model. Just sold the swapped CRX and getting the itch but for something newer, problem is I only know about the EF's. Thanks in advance.

as with any civic, they are good for b-series swaps, the only drawback is the obd2, but a motor out of a 99-00civic si would drop right in and be able to be plugged right in to the original harness off the old engine. maybe some wire extending but its a good upgrade, there are other upgrades as well that will require more work, but this is the easiest and prolly cheapest way to go, and once you have the b16 in there, the upgrades are endless.

o yah, and the only other thing I know about the hx is that they have those really light alloy wheels, other than that I don't know chassis specs, braking system or anything else. jsut my suggestion for the b16.

Sounds like there is no diff on the swap side of these cars then. How about the front hubs? Do they need to be changed since it is a HX like on the EF HFs? Jus t a thought not a deal breaker I'm just looking to get as much info about this as I can seein' since noone around here does anything but put primered body kits and clear tail lights on their cars cause we're 10 years behind on just about anything.

i am pretty sure that you don't have to replace the hubs, I think that that problem was only with those damn hf's

Well, thats good news! Are the HXs significantly lighter than the other trim levels being it's the "economy" model of an economy car?

like I said above, I have no idea what the chassis specs are, there might be something in the refrence section.

The HF is a little lighter than the other coupes. As far as the swap, it should be just as easy as a swap into an EX.

They are slightly lighter, but not significantly lighter. The thing that makes the HX the "economy model" is the engine that's in it has a slightly different version of VTEC that produces some pretty good fuel economy numbers. It was also available with a continuously variable transmission; the cars with the CVT don't lurch forward when they have to shif gears like a normal automatic would.

But yeah, if the car you're looking at is a 5-speed then you should just be able to swap motors in as easily as with any other 96-00 Civic, just make sure you get an OBD-2 motor or the wiring is going to be a bitch.
