I know, these threads bug me too but im really just looking to get some feedback from people who have actually owned these cars before.

In a few months ill finally be licensed and will be selling commercial insurance full time along with finishing up school. I need to get a car thats a bit more professional than an 88 civic.

Now my requirements are that its between 5-7k, stick, good on gas, cheap on insurance, fun to drive because ill be putting alot of miles on the car.

Now my first idea was a DC integra.
Good: great on gas, i know how to work on it
Bad: hard to find one completely stock, gets stolen alot, expensive for what they really are

second was a saab, 9-3, 9-5 whatever as long as its stick
Good: crazy cheap on insurance, ok gas milage, can get a pretty nice one for my price range
Bad: Other than some family members who've owned saabs and liked them i really dont know much about them

third: audi a4
good: awd, cheap on insurance, ok on gas
bad: there german and are a pita to fix, expensive to fix, break alot

so as of right now im saab shopping, so if anyone has had any experience with owning 96-99 saabs or has a suggestion of what else to get let me hear it. Thanks

Audi...get some nice wheels, tint, and a few mods. they are nice cars

my car is pending sale tonight, showed me the cash, notary is closed so we're meeting in the am so im going to go test driving this week.

any other opinions on some other cars? Thanks for the input, i was definatly poo poo ing the audi before because of the reliability and crappier milage but driving one will be the deciding factor most likely

^ thats what scares me about going audi, i like awd + turbo but i dont like elecrical problems and stupid special tools to fix anything

thats why id really like to hear from someone who has owned a saab before

I don't know anybody with one. On the other hand- one of my good friends with a A4 1.8T quattro never had a problem with it, and he didn't even change the oil for the whole 18k miles he had it on lease before he bought it. The only issue he ever had was a rattle in the AC system.

saabs arent the most reliable things out there either. Their electrical systems are down there with vw/audi's. But if its a viggen..... it could be worth it heh

theres one used dealership that specializes in selling audi/vw and saab's so im gonna swing by there after the notary...
They both get about the same gas milage, pretty mutch exactly the same to insure, so its pretty much going to come down to what i like to drive...

thanks for all the input guys

A close friend of mine works at the largest saab store in the midwest.

Relibilty of the V6 is terrible... including the wiring..... the Auto is even worse.

Reliabilty of the turbo 5sp is right up there with a 22r ..... seriously some amazing stuff.

i wouldnt get anything else but the turbo 5spd, one local dealer is getting in a 99 9-3se turbo with 110k on it on monday so im going to test drive it and see how i like it... he said they might also be getting in a 1.8t quattro a4 as well so hopefully i will be able to compare

do you know how much parts are vs the audi? i know audi parts are pretty expensive and im assume the saab's would be too but since he works at a saab store how does it compare to honda parts

i thought about it, but that would be like me getting a swapped ek civic, still newer and fun but who knows what its been through

im taking a break from modding cars for a year or two until im a little more settled in my job after graduation. Hence the euro car search. An audi or saab is much less likely to have a past where they were molested and beaten :p

and i have my bike to go fast or to the track, so that will keep me occupied for alittle
probably

most likely

maybe

give it a month lol:lol:

^ Well, i couldnt be happier with my 240 . . . i bought it with all the parts & the swap in it.

One week later I ran 13 seconds in the 1/4.

Just do your homework first. i.e. if the car has coilovers and "ilovedrifting" stickers, its pry been thru hell and back.

im not completely objecting to it, if i could find a nicer 2nd gen one id def consider it.

so if you see any around se pa let me know
