Really? Just give the guy a call and see what he thinks. Shipping won't be that bad when you're talking about a $25k+ transaction.

naw, its an obd1 motor... i'll never get it smogged up here. they do port scanning on obd2 cars now.
its a floirda car that needs to stay in florida i think.

I love that car.

A '97 is only OBD-1 or was it because it used an earlier engine? I thought most went OBD-II in '94+?

Once nasioc.com is done being a whore - I'll show you the Ti that I'm in love with - its more extensive than this Ti and puts down 600rwhp. It has an all aluminum widebody and I think its tubbed. I've never seen pictures of it in person, but its semi-local apparently, because it was shipped out with all the other showcars of this area to a west coast show when a subie guy sent his showcar out. There was also the Audi S4 with the "snail nose" hood that has the twin gt30 or gt35r turbos.

I'm with you on trading the STi for it though. I thought about trading the WRX in for a mid-90's M3 just to have a nice daily driver with incredible handling and an incredible powerband but its going to be too much of a hassle and I can't pull the trigger. I thought the same about trading for a IS300. Oh well, I guess I'm pretty far into my project right now and if I need 300awhp/300tq and a sick powerband I'm only a fuel pump, injectors, and a VF series turbo away. Unfortunately I'll never have an interior as nice as the M series or Lexus.

"hell yea the audi is crazy . thats a new hoood too ! last show , he was doing burnouts and hoodpin wasnt locked and hood flew open and smashed the windsheild and rooof but its back out better than ever ."

"man , that TI is crazzzzzy ! all sheeet metal widebody . the rear wheels are 18x12 ! 600whp . engine bay is completely shaved . stack cluster . its so crazy !"

Some quotes from the thread.

omg. im with you brian that is the HOTTEST beamer ever. i loooove the ti's :)

word. I've been really considering getting rid of the sti, picking up a 318 of some sort and scoring an older impreza or something for a winter beater.

318ti's are 4-cyls.
97 = obd2
The above linked car has a 95 M3 swap in it which = obd1 conversion = no scan tool will work on it = B doesn't register in CT :(

hot shit. i don't want anything that crazy though...

this guy is interested in a trade for the sti... hrmmmm. i need to think about this for a little bit. Damn hot car, but a shit load of money for a 95

Thats the problem I take for this situation. You trade down a brand spanking new car, thats 10 years newer and has low mileage - but has the latest technology and modern styling Q's for a car that has older technology and older styling Q's. That sort of thing makes the car feel dated, although BMW was on top of the game and was years ahead of other companies the car still becomes dated.

I'll give an example. My buddy has a 92ish Mercedes, it has wood trim interior and older funny looking switches but its power everything and was one of the first cars to have the retractable sunroof along with heated mirrors and other conviences. The shifter and the trim just look old as do all the switches and other electrical work even though it can perform the tasks that other modern cars can. If thats not an issue to you fine, but its hard to go from new to used. Its not as hard when you're going to a used M series but I'd have a hard time turning in my '02 WRX with 34k on the odo for a car that has 80-100k on the odo especially if I wind up having to pay extra.

i hear ya... but its got a euro M swap and 6pd tranny. thats a 12k motor alone.

and besides, i think the 95 M's are more advanced that the 05 sti is. What does it have? auto climate controls? the M's have had that for years...

I HATE wood trim almost as much as I hate tan leather. I won't buy a car with either.

that car is a 1 of a kind for sure.

so if you couldnt get it on the roads in ct how do other non obd2 cars get around up there? sorry im in fl and we dont have to deal with all that bs.

obd2 cars need an obd2 motor and ecu/etc in it as it goes in the scan tool. Any codes = fail.
odb1 and lower, goes on the rollers and gets an exhaust sniffer.

So, an obd2 chassis with an obd1 motor in it won't work. The scan tool will throw errors of missing sensors, even if there's an obd1 computer or obd2 computer in the car.

i emailed the 218ti guy, and he wants like 40k for that thing, so i told him to F off. lol

but i'm really considering the m3 i linked to...
