The truck decided it wanted to blow out old tire #2, so I went ahead and put the Z71 wheels on along with a new set of Kumho ASX 245/50/16 tires.
I chose the Kumho ASX because it was the best tire available locally without being ridiculously expensive, and I didn't have time to wait for The TireRack.com to deliver to me. Downtime for the truck was not an option.
Info:
Stock wheels were 14x6 +30mm offset, 215/70/14 tires
New wheels are 16x7 +51mm offset, 245/50/16 tires (10 inch section width)
- Z71 wheel centers were bored to 4 inches at a local machine shop to clear the Nissan hub
- Z71 wheel is 22.5 pounds with center cap after boring the center
- open ended acorn bulge seat nuts + matching Gorilla locks were used to hold the wheels down
- no vibration at high speed even though wheels are now lugcentric instead of hubcentric
- stock tire diameter is maintained within a few millimeters, so overall gearing is not affected
Kumho ASX is rated 420 AA A
I love the fit and I love the traction. Gas mileage has not been affected.
Picture time:
Sort of a downward looking view:
Side view (lowered .5" up front, 2" in back):
With flash so you can see the gap:
Width of tire from rear- love that mismatched beater tailgate!
Clearance to leaf spring- about 1 inch:
Clearance to frame at back of front wheel- about 1 inch at rest, will rub a tad during a full lock turn:
Clearance to radius rod at front of front wheel- about 1 inch at rest, will rub a tad during a full lock turn:
Same radius rod clearance, different angle:
