Hi,
I have a 95 acura integra gsr. I blew a rod through my block. via hydrolocking during the latest tropical storm(ernesto). I have not had luck finding a replacement b18c1 block so I was reading some different swaps and turbo setups with gsr heads and b16a(X) blocks. (which particular block am not sure but)... I was wondering if this is a good plan if I plan to rebuild and boost the motor. Any advice or help will be appreciated......

just get an ls block. that would be the cheapest way to go. you CANNOT rebuild a block that threw a rod through the block. just buy an ls block or longblock online. they are cheap and relatively easy to find. and a little FYI, when it rains, put a stock intake on or don't drive through puddles.

yeah... i know you cant rebuild a blown block... No where in my post did I state I was going to REBUILD MY BLOWN BLOCK. looking to build up a new gsr block (if I could find one or b16 block. Ls/Vtec = more work than finding a block already setup for vtec heads... I dont want cheap..I want reliable. if I get a block it will be boosted. Just wondering if the b16aX blocks are good matches for b18c heads if planning to boost.

haha... formby is so wasted.... :D

get_nick, if you actually read his first post carefully, you'll notice that when he was talking about rebuilding a block for boost, he was referring to the idea of a B16 block with his GSR head, not useing his blown block.

I also don't think he meant to 'flame' you with the all CAPS, but was merely re-emphasizing his originaly thought of the b16 block and gsr head that you evidently misunderstood at first.

SistemaTic, I'd suggest searching the For Sale/Trade forums for GSR blocks. I see them for sale all the time, so I'm confident you can find one. If you can't find one on here, try looking/searching on Honda-Tech.com, and maybe you'd have more luck over there.

And on the note of useing a b16 bottom end, I'd suggest to just get the GSR block. You will sacrifice torque if you use a b16 block, because of the smaller displacement.

Like I said, just buy a bare block, then some rods, and swap everything off your block into the new one.
And while you already have the bottom end disassembled, you might wanna consider upgrading parts.

GL on w/e route you choose to take.
