Mhmm....
Being relatively new... I don't know whether this question has been asked multiple x times before this... if so tell me so...

but yea.. What type of computer systems are we running around here? Homebuild (the best)? Any sweet mods anybody wants to mention?

I'll start us off with my 6 month home built:

CPU: AMD64 3700+ (not overclocked, yet)
MOBO: Asus A8N-SLI
HD's: 200GB Seagate Barracuda, 300 GB Samsung
RAM: 2 x 512 Hyper-X (only decent stuff made by Kingston)
VID: MSI 6600GT oc'd
DRIVES: DVD and a CDRW... both ripped from an old emachines... goes well with the case
PSU: 430W HIPRO
COOLING: Antec case fans, 2x120mm, 3x80mm,
CASE: AMS black case with acrylic front, modded
MODS: Dremmel'd out two sweet side windows... (pics, directions, diagram availible once i'm done with then next mod, a 120mm blow hole on top)

thanks

nice rig...i know calesta and i (for sure) are into computer modding. ive built nearly half a dozen water cooled systems, a couple extreme cooling (meaning built for ONE top speed run before the northbridge overheats) and then i have my old rig (now pieced out to my dad) and my normal laptop. I stopped gamin so i have no reason for a TOTALLY KICK ASS COMPUTER. My modest laptop does everything i need plus a little flash and primere.

wow... the extreme cooling one run's sound expensive... i built my whole system for just under $650... (+150 for decent monitor and decent keyboar, optical mouse)

yeah they are...i live in the high rent district, so some of my friends had some cash to throw around. stable 3.8+ northwood P4 on water cooling wasnt anything new...we had a couple overclocked to over 4.2GHz using a copper pipe alcohol and dry ice. Pretty cool stuff, i NEED to get that hard drive out of my old computer, it sucks not having those pics.

I get new computer shit every 3-6 months so I am the worst with this shit. I have some older stuff too, but it is a waste to mention it.

Oh no, not another one of these.. Seems to pop up every other month or so.

Anyway, seems like there are a lot of people who collect or have old parts. Anyone intersted in selling a socket A board w/ddr support that works for 20 shipped?? looking for a home for my +1600 XP.

core duo extreme? for what? thats a 1000 chip..people have been easily overclocking their lower models and end up getting 3hz, way surpassing an extreme. and usually those reach abou tthe same speeds to, just easier to get to then with a lower divider... but with good board and good ram, you can reach and pass core duo extreme speeds with far less money.

aspire 5672...

core duo 1.66
1gb ram
100gb hdd
512mb ati video
wireless b/g
gigabit lan
dvi

etc etc

Not if your wife works for Intel it isn't... For what we can get for it, I can't beat the performace nor the stability of not having to overclock. And if I want to I can go at least as far as any of the lower chips, probably further.

dang guy, whats a good discount? hook a brother up? or its it limited to 2-3 per year like cars and expensive stuff? im sure itching to get a conroe.

Let me check the specifics, if it says for family, I can't just hand them out because Intel is known for being very paranoid. If it says family and friends, then we can work something out.

My new MythTV backend server (which I got for free... SCORE!)

Are the discounts significant? I heard that my uncle works for one in Beaverton/Aloha, Oregon. Im not sure which section, but would he get a discount too? If he does, man I need to get on my uncle's good side again. :D

LMK too. Im broke, but if the deal is sizzling enough, i can splurge.

They are very significant, you really should give him a call and see what he can do for you.
