Seven Codes....

Okay, so I was driving home last night. In the low rpm's (about 2k thru 4k), throttle partially open, second, third and fourth gears....my car is sputtering, I could noticeably open the throttle and the car was simply just not responding to it, heard lots of misfiring as well. I've had this problem to a much lesser and infrequent extent in the past. This time I actually played with the throttle a little bit when I was driving and got it to throw a code. Got home and jumped the ECU. :disgust1: It threw 7 codes at me.... :glare:
---- Code 1 (primary O2 sensor) <--- pre-existing
---- Code 6 (ECT sensor)
---- Code 10 (IAT sensor)
---- Code 12 (EGR lift)
---- Code 20 (electrical load detector)
---- Code 21 (VTEC solenoid valve)
---- Code 41 (primary O2 heater circuit malfunction)

Other than the conditions listed above, the car runs fine, ran at WOT out of that RPM range and the car had no difficulty at all. Checked my grounds and they are all clean and secure. Wondering what else you guys think I need to check or suspect?? Thanks in advance

why havent you replace or fixed any of those?

seems like you know what you need to do already.

um, because several sensors like that don't go wacky all by themselves??? I would think it is something common with the sensors like the PCM, I am simply asking for someone who may have had a similar problem or can offer me a little more insight

well, you didnt say if this happened randomly or anything, so w/e.

but, its not hard to clean out the iacv or the egt.

for everything else, make sure your wiring is not loose.

o2's tend to go out with time, and its not hard to replace.
was this after a swap? what has been done to the engine? give more info.

Yes it is random....
My setup is listed in my sig so yes, it is a swap
I don't think IACV has anything to do with what is going on right now, especially at 2k-4k rpms, my 02 sensor was recently replaced within the last 6 months with a brand new OEM sensor. EGR has thrown a code before (in the last year I think) and I removed it, cleaned off the carbon, got as much out of the passage as I could reach with a wire brush. I suspect the code was caused by the transducer possibly. Even still, that would not cause the ECT, IAT, 02 AND VTEC solenoid to go wacky out of nowhere together. I'm not really sure to condemn the PCM, or maybe the alternator or what, that's why I'm looking 4 some help.

reset it and see if it does it again, maybe ur ecu just went crazy for a spilt second. ive had cars throw codes, we reset the ecu and it goes away and doesnt come back. . . just some weird things that happen at times

Yeah but I'm really curious as to why it threw 7 codes all of a sudden.....it has run immaculately (code wise) until that point... :shrug2:

i would see if all those wires have something in common...
perhaps they all run through one of the shock tower plugs? or all have the same ground somewhere?

I don't suppose any1 on here could find a wiring diagram for a '96 Civic could they? It would be greatly appreciated

well regardless you can eliminate you pre-existing o2 code and code 41 by replacing the o2 sensor.

I could replace ALL the sensors that are throwing codes right now but that doesn't mean all the same sensors wouldn't throw codes again in the near future, point being, I am not looking to replace the sensors to make the codes go away, I am trying to figure out what common problem caused all those sensors to go awry in the first place. ^_^

I just got done looking at the wiring and connectors that were visible in that area and I found a little bit of dirt on the connectors (but not inside) and everything else seems fine. Connectors are not cracked or anything, wiring is not stripped or exposed, kinked, anything..... :shrug2:

what ecu are you using?

*edit*

i need to start reading peoples sigs, lol.

hmm, you sure its the p13? are you using a wideband?

for the egr, make sure there are no leaks around it. even the smallest leak could cause the code to go off. I recommend blocking it off. you can either make a custom block off plate, or cut up a can of pop and make the block off plate using a few sheets of that.

for the vtec solenoid, make sure the wire at the connector is making a good connection and that the pin is in correctly.

i dont know what to say about the ELD.

Yeah, it was a P13 shipped w/ H22 from Hmotorsonline + it says "P13" on the label.
The EGR valve is good, I have previously stuck a vacuum pump on it and it held 18 hg of vacuum, the gasket is good, the passages and not clogged, vacuum lines to it are not leaking as I have also done a smoke test on the motor about a month ago. Hence, that is why I think the transducer is the problem as far as that goes. My VTEC always engages properly and this is the first time I have EVER gotten a VTEC solenoid code...first time I have EVER gotten IAT, ECT, ELD codes as well. That seems just a little bit funny to me that all these would individually fail at the same time. reckedracing seemed on track with what's going on but I checked what he suggested and everything turned up OK. I really appreciate all the suggestions from you guys BTW. ^_^
