JDM B16 in EG....what cat for smog?

Anyone who has a JDM B16 and passed at the CA BAR......what cat did you pass with? I have a JDM B16......changed the PCV valve, plugs, wires, dist. cap and rotor, and have 2 magnaflow 2.25 inch cats in the friggin' thing, and the NOx levels were too high for the 15mph tailpipe test........any suggestions would be appreciated.
 
like i said get a universal cat.. you may need a valve adjustment.. i went through the same thing you did..i failed like 3 time before passing, luckily he would see it was failing miserable and VOID the visit so i could come back after fixing something.. i tried absolutely everything.. ask these guys..

thanks for your help man, i am getting a valve adjustment now, and am going to swap out the thermostat for one that runs a but cooler.
 
well, retarded the timing 2 degrees, changed coolant and thermostat, and had the valves adjusted, and still didn't pass. i'm thinking i might just try a new OEM cat.
 
Valve adjustment and Miller Cat and the car passed no problems. According to pre- and post-tests, the better cat helped more than the valve adjustment.
