I just got a 1993 Prelude with a H22a swap. I'm trying to figure out the V-AFC II, but I dont know what I'm doing. The guy that sold me the car said he rebuilt the engine... so I dont know everything that he installed (like piston type/ratio, cams, ect).

I've been looking around on the V-AFC II and a few things dont work and/or do not display correctly. I'm wondering if he doesnt have some sensors configured or hooked up... or what is going on. Here is a few pics of what I see:

Can somebody help me please?

I dont know what year the motor is... so I dont know the terminal drawing to go by. I was going to check and see if everything is hooked up to the ECU right. How can I tell what year my motor is and what terminal drawing to use?

I talked to the guy that sold me the car today.... and he said that the ECU was reprogramed. He said the ECU controls the VTEC and everything else that the V-AFC II does and that I really didnt need to hook up everything on the V-AFC

I'm still have to learn ALOT about tuners.... somebody please help!

Thanks!

find a new mechanic. yours is fucking you.

try to find what year your ecu is to get a better baseline,i.e. 93=p28 for the civic
it shouldnt matter what mods are done to the ecu,the vafc2 should at min control vtec on your set command

Here's my ECU. Looks like a P06 : 92-95 OBD-1 Civic DX

I also see where the VTEC isnt even hooked up.... The guy I got the car from said that the ECU was re-programed to do everything? ...and u didnt need to hook up the vtec on the V-AFC II?

The orange, yellow, white, purple, light blue, dark blue, and pink wires are not hooked up!

im suprised your car even runs halfway decent without all that hooked up,from what i see the only things used were 2red(power)1brown 1 black(ground)green is rpm and i forget grey?without the rest the vafc is basically a showpeice, valueable info=p06 is a non v-tec ecu, proper install of the vafc2 will still be limited due to lack of VTM and v-tec output from the ecu to the spool sol onthe head,my best recomendation at this point is find a ecu for an si lude(stock,no mods)and do this install yourself(pride and knowledge reasons)ill help as best i can

thanks for the info! There is 2 red, brown, green, and grey hooked up right now. The only thing that works on the V-AFC II is the Rev and the Throttle signal (cuz that is all thats hooked up). Is there any way of telling that I have a VTEC engine? For all I know it just has a VTEC cover on the engine!

The guy sold me the car pretty cheap for what all has been done to it.... I'm just wondering now if I even have a VTEC engine

I need to get a manifold first cuz my XSPower turbo manifold is cracked all to hell. After that, I'll try to find the right ECU.

Thanks,
David

look for that on the left, behind the head. in the bottom picture, it is on the right near the dizzy. that is the vtec solenoid. if you have that, then you have vtec.

Does it matter if the ECU is for AUTO, 5 Speed, SOHC, DOHC, ect? Can I get any p28 ECU? ...or do I need a p28 for 5 speed and DOHC?

I was looking on ebay and seen p28s for AUTO trans and SOHC.....

I also found a site that sells kits to convert a p06 to a VTEC p28 ECU..... I dont really know how much it costs to convert it (I'm reading all the info now). Do you guys think it would be cheaper to convert my p06 or just buy a p28?

I think this is what I'm looking for..... ???

is that your engine bay? i posted 2 pictures of what it looks like and where to find it. also, i would just buy a stock p28 ecu and get it chipped. the p28 is only for dohc vtec engines. that would be the easiest route to go.

naa man... that is a picture of my spare tire in my trunk

.... sorry for not knowing everything.

thanks for the help!

LOL... sorry for being an ass

yea, that is my engine. I just got the car... so I'm trying to figure everything out. That is the vtec solenoid right?

I appreciate all the help!

yes, that is the vtec solenoid. you should post more pics of your car.

dude you really dont knoe the possibilities you have right now, awesome baseline to start with-H22turbo,also check out the site for more info on ecu's and chipping,be careful though, seems like a noob may be taken advantage of,post more pics of the car as a whole

I uploaded a few pics to my member gallery . It's the only ones I have right now... and they're not real good. I'll upload more pictures when I get my new log manifold installed.

Check them out!

cool bro,by the way some research showed the correct ecu for your car would be a p13,prelude ecu, then have it chipped for your specific need, the p28 wont plug in correctly
