Hi guys, I'm new to hondaswap. Great site with lots of info.

I need some help here. I have a 95 Accord with a H22 swap, DC Sports Accord exhaust, amount other things. The shop put in a DC sports header when I did the swap, and made a test pipe to mate with the exhaust since the stock cat won't fit. Now I'm in the market for a new header, but not sure what year header I have. Ideally I can get the same year so I don't have to modify anything. I think what I need to know is the length of the downpipe running under the car. Does anybody know what the differences are between the 4th gen and 5 gen header?

Thanks for the help.

all h22 headers are the same.

what kind of header are you thinking of going with? the only upgrade from a DC header is a kamikazee(imo). unless you go with RMF or SMSP.

or is this an ebay dc sports header you are talking about?

here is a link that compares h22 headers. best bang for the buck=cheap ebay header. if you dont care for the best bang for the buck, then you might as well get an RMF or smsp.

thanks for the post. i've been looking for something like this. i'm thinking about picking up a del sol with an h22 swap already in it.

So they are the same? I read that they have difference lengths between 4th gen, 5th gen and SH. hmm...

As for which one I'm going with, I'm thinking between Greddy, Vibrant (suppose to be a Mugen knock-off and heard some good things) or Fujitsubo. The most expensive one of the three is the Fujitsubo, which is about $650. I heard DC suppose to have an updated H22 header with a 2.25" collector, but I'm not sure. I looked into SMSP, RMF and AN-R, but I can't justify over $1000 for a header.

The one I have is not an eBay DC knock-off, if that's what you mean. It's ceramic coated, got a few good dents in them an started to rust, so I want to replace it a stainless (it's my only car and it see lots of snow). Plus I want something a little bigger for the JUN cam I have in there. I'm pushing 190 at the wheel right now, and trying to get the last 10 to hit the 200 mark I planned. Any suggestions?

get a tune. trust me, it helps alot.

I tuned my friends h22 cb7. all he has is dc header, 2.5" piping, ebay intake and a chipped p28 tuned by yours truly.

he ran a 14.4 before he was tuned, im sure he can do much better now. he's making over 200whp(im guessing becuase his last dyno was at 193whp/163wtq)

no, I'm not questioning you at all. I appreciate your help

I did have it tuned, although only for cam and ignition timing. I found a JUN ECU and have been using that. It suppose to match up with the cam, but looking at the fuel curve, there are improvement to be made. I've been dailing in the fuel with the fuel controller, but need to put it back to the dyno to see what I got. I'd like to use a chiped ecu to tune, but there aren't many tuners in my area. Not having a good base map get me nervous.

It always amaze me when people get 190+whp with stock cam, given h22 suppose to make about 165 stock. 14.4 1/4 mile sounds like the number is right though. I need to get a 1/4 mile time to have a true test, since all dynos read different (I had mine dynoed on a Superflow dyno, and I've head they read about 10% less than Dynojet, so I don't know, it's just a reference number anyway)

that sounds like a really inflated dyno. with those mods, 170 hp sounds more accurate. i'm not calling bullshit, i'm just agreeing that all dyno's read differently.

lol if your gunna do it then do it right...RMF FTW. and me personally im not calling you a liar but i dont c 200 whp with dc header intake and chrome. theres people with rmf intake exhaust tuned just shy of 200whp....

A number is a number, and it's only for reference. Like I said, 14.4 is a very good time.

Back to the original question. I did found out that the 4th gen header has the longest down pipe; and the SH has the longest. And from the look of it, what I have is the 5gen non-SH. So I guess I just answered my own question.

I think we all know the best headers are SMSP, RMF and AN-R. And DC is one of the best bang for the buck, if not the best. Does anybody has experience with other off the shelf H22 headers?

my bad, his numbers are 190.3/155.8.
these are his mods:
jdm H22a
m2b4 lsd tranny
Fidanza 8lb flywheel
Ebay intake
skunk2 muffler w/ 2.5 piping
Jg cam seal
Auto>manual tensioner conversion
p28 ecu
Dc sports header
Straight through glasspack
Maxbore Throttle body

the dyno posted there is the dyno before he was tuned and after he got his throttle body. the throttle body really messed with his afr's, which caused the loss in power.
I'll try to find the dyno sheet before he got the TB.

The header is different in different years. 97 and up H22's had a lower hanging downpipe. In my Accord, it cause a severe scrape over bad bumps, and I replaced it with a higher aftermarket stainless one. The bolt patterns are the same.
