I'm surprised there's not a thread about this movie already.

Quickie:

Based (moderately) on a true Chinese legend/hero
Jet Li's last martial arts flick
No frills badass fighting and a good story all the way through

Go see it! It's worth your money.

You non Mandarin Chinese speaking people will be reading subtitles 98% of the time though. Thankfully, I didn't really have to- and the translations are pretty good. There were only a few spots where 3-4 sentences got condensed down to 3-4 words.

I've wanted to see it, probably go check it out later. I've been wondering about that though, did he retire after shooting this? or did he die and I just didn't hear?

lol....i want to go see it tonight.

ill see if i agree. the only 2 jet li movies i didnt like were unleashed and the one. hopefully this one is better than both of those. if so, we'll see my movie collection get one title larger when it finally comes out on dvd.

jet li is mega old bro. he probably retired. at 43 you do get too old to do movies like that. Hell probably come back as a miagi like guy in other movies.

this is old school jet li. he has done like 30 movies of this style. he's done so many movies i'm sure it is just taking a toll on his body. he's kind of like brett favre. still good, just the years are taking a toll physically.

on a side note, for anyone who saw The Protector, was that Jackie Chan at the airport that bumps into Tony Jaa?

according to imdb, no it wasnt jackie chan

as for fearless. FUCKING KICK ASS MOVIE.

I will say that it coulda been a lot better. The begining of the movie was almost disturbing. It was hard for me to see jet li acting that way. It worked in the case and plot of the movie, but it just didnt feel right.

I heard they cut 40 minutes from the movie and i hope to god that they were in the middle because it felt like someone dropped the movie on the ground and then said "OH I KNOW, LETS SKIP THE DEPTH OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PART". He's at the place, then leaves and i feel like he has learned nothing while he is there. you dont see his character grow over those "years" that take like 20 on screen minutes.

The end of the movie REALLY freakin rocked. Thats the stuff i go to martial arts movies to see. Honor, integrity and respect tied in with some good ass kicking. Thats my kinda stuff

The ending was a little bit gross, but i guess it worked in the context that it was used, but man i almost gagged for a minute.

I did my best not to spoil any part of the movie. yall know there is ass kickaree and then its a chinese movie so there has to be some kind of deeper story. I just wish they woulda done a better job with Jet's character. While there is an obvious change in personality, i dont know why it happened.

I hope in the DVD there is an uncut version or at least some deleted scenes cause i wanna know what was supposed to go in the middle.

I thought the reasons behind the character development were pretty obvious- but that could also be because I'm Chinese and am used to seeing subtleties like that.

you got a little taste, but i would have liked to have seen more. i dont like things left open for you to wonder about whether the character has changed or not.

i thought i was the only person that went and saw that. yes it was him. i can't find it online either but it's obvious it was.

does anybody remember the rundown with the rock when he was walking into the club and ran into the terminator. it was basically the same thing, only with asian guys. haha

the protector was good as shit to. how many movies do you get to watch a muay thai guy kick the shit out of people wearing chuck taylors.

ive been waiting to see this movie since ive seen the previews. most of the time, i HATE reading subtitles. but theres an exception for Jet Li films. i saw hero a couple years back and i was so into the movie that i didnt really notice i was reading. i dont doubt itll be the same way with this movie.

it was the same way. The begining was hard on my because i HATED the way jet's character was acting...really, it bothered me. As it got deeper into the movie i started liking his character again and completely forgot the movie was in another language.

Who needs to read subtitles? :p

That's the first thing I thought of. It was Arnold "passing the action hero torch" to the Rock in the Rundown. And this was Jackie "passing the martial arts hero torch" to Tony Jaa ^_^

Bump.
Rented this last night, and I have to say, it's a very well done movie, in every aspect. I agree that his arrogant prideful character in the beginning pisses you off, but then you see his transformation and what he becomes. The way he pulls the death blow in the end and knows he's done the right thing, pretty sweet.

well i saw it finally not too long ago. i ended up watching it in chinese because the dubbing was absolutely horrible. Jet Li didnt even do his own voice!. now the movie Hero for example, i could watch dubbed, because most of the characters did their own voices and it didnt really sound fake. Hero was also another badass jet li flick
