Black smoke out of exhuast? b16a2

Hey again guys,
i just picked up a 1999 Vtec coupe with b16a2 in it, i was on the highway and after i dropped down a gear and acceled to about 7000 rpm, my mate behind me said there was quiet a bit of black smoke coming out, im guessing this has happened when vtec has kicked in.

should i be worried or is it just some bad fuel? cos i have no idea and i dont want it to break :E can someone tell me whats going on?

EDIT: yeah was just reading other posts about it, if im running rich or its something else basicly what i mean to ask is, is it something to be worried about?

thanks, what things should i look at/get tested, to fix this problem?.
i've trying reseting my factory ecu by disconnecting negative terminal on battery for like 5 mins then starting it and letting it idle for another 5 mins,...
what other ways can i trouble shoot this?

you can get a fuel pressure regulator and adj. the amount of fuel your eng gets put into it... you can also chipp your ecu as well..

Are you running a high flow catalytic converter or test pipe? or does your car have a stock cat?
