The V-twin water-cooled two-stroke uses the same crankcase reed-valve induction as seen on the V-4s. The 100 degree V-twin also uses a single crankshaft, a feature found on all of Honda's recent GP race bikes. Weighing in at 109 Kg (240 lbs.) with oil and water, it is claimed to produce 135 bhp at 10,250 revs when running on hi-octane avgas. From 1997, all bikes run in GPs will be forced to use lead-free fuel in a token gesture to the environmental lobby. This will knock 10 bhp off the maximum output of the engine.
