I'm switching from a XSPower manifold that looks like this:

... and going to a "log style" manifold like this:

Here's the problems I have....

turbo1.jpg

and...

dpipe1.jpg

The downpipe is still going to be REAL close to the black plug on the side of the alternator even if I get it custom made. I will also have to trim the side of the radiator fan. The turbo hits the plastic lip and the support at the red X. I dont know if trimming it will even give me the amount of room needed? I dont see how this can/will work??? Does anybody have a simaliar setup with a log manifold?

All the help is appreciated.

Thanks,
David

take the DP to a metal shop and have them shave the flange some, and wrap it with heat shield wrap.

and try rotating the cold side or cut whatever is in its way.

Thanks for the help guys.... here is what i have now:

The only problems I see is at the red circles. My radiator hose is smushed. Fluid can still flow freely.... it may be restricted in those 2 places.

I also have to get the downpipe fixed... hopefuly the local exhaust shop can do that.

Everything is realy tight fit. I'm worried that when the engine moves around it might break something. my hood also sits down on the intercooler pipe coming off the turbo. The hood pins can still go in and hold the hood down.

and put the filter on the turbo, if it fits. also trim the rad hose or buy a universal flex hose.

i wouldnt trim the hose, go to autozone and buy a universal flex hose like formby suggested. If you can get the filter right on the turbo, do that... or buy a short exhuast pipe bend, measure and cut then slap on the filter.

have you tried to clock the turbo towards the front of the car one notch? It may fix your filter and ic piping problem..

I got the downpipe flange connected. I have to get the dp away from the alternator.

The air filter will not fit on the turbo. The radiator fan in the way....

the turbo cant be moved either way....

If I move it forward... its right in the radiator.

If I move it back a little.... the hood will not close because of the intercooler pipe.

the install pics the guy sent me has the turbo facing down. If I turned the turbo down, I would have to re-run my intercooler pipes somehow

Remove the rad fan and buy and electric reversable one. Then attach it to the front of the rad and wire it up. Thats what I had to do in the Accord to make space :)

What size piping is the DP?

hmm shoulda scooped that log i have, its ps/a/c compatible and fits liek a glove.

i say sell that mess.

dude i'd love to have one of your manifolds. If this cast iron doesnt work out, I will definitely get one. I'm still waiting on you to email me pics of it. PM me if you need my email again.

is the ic pipe directly hitting the hood or the hood frame (for lack of better descrip) that lines the underside of it?

that full size radiator is killin you lol. Look around for an aftermarket 1/2 core, go with a pusher fan and problem solved, atleast for the most part. It'd look like the 2nd picture you put up in your 1st post.

shit i gotta go to class..

The IC pipe hits the hood..... the guy that had the car before me shaved some of the hood frames so the old setup would fit.

How much will it cost for a 1/2 core radiator and the fan?

about 300-400 after all is said and done. Take a few hours to clock the turbo so its facing down and see if you can reroute the ic piping easily.

wow what a mess.

i woudl pick up a used eg style half radiator if i was you, you can usually pick one up real cheap, then it would take you a few minutes to loosen the 6 or so bolts holding the compressor housing on so that it could be clocked, turn it down and tighten them back up. then if the engine bay is still too cramped for that filter i would suggest using two layers of screen and a hose clamp to hold it on. i had my old car turboed for a little over 3 years using a screen and never once had a problem.

is that an XS power turbo??

Whats the eg style half radiator? What would I look for at the junkyard or search for on ebay?

The turbo does not say XS anything on it.... all I remeber seeing T3/T4.

*** Updates on the install: I got some flex hose and that fixed the smashed up radiator hose problem. I turned the turbo to face upwards and got a longer rubber boot to connect the turbo to the ic pipe. My hood can now shut and doesnt lay on the ic pipe.

I have everything installed now except the downpipe. I have the flange connected, but I've been to 3 local shops and they say they cant make that much of a bend   ??

There is also a little oil coming out.... where the red circle is. It's not constant leak, mainly when u first start the car up? Is this normal or is something wrong?

Thanks,
David

has any one not noticed the inlet and drin positioning on this thing

dude you need to clock the center section so that the oil inlet is straight up and down you will end up smoking that turbo real fast with it like that why did you get rid of the xs power manifold for a log style any ways did it start cracking or something

yea... the XSPower manifold is cracked all to hell. Go here for pics of the POS :) . I've had it re-welded like 15 times.

I didnt know that the oil inlet had to be facing upwards.... and the oil drain needs to be facing down. I thought it would work any way?

Why would oil be coming out of the downpipe flange... where the red circle is?
