Hi, i am a newbie. I am ... dont get mad .... a Toyota enthusiast. I own a 1992 Supra Turbo 3.0, that laid down 472.6 RWHP. Anyways i got a 1997 civic dx sedan with a 1.5 engine and something like 105hp. I want to do an engine swap to it to give it a little more pep. I do the engine work myself, and want a jdm engine i can pick up for under a grand. I want like 130-140 hp, nothing spectacular, something i can mod and etc. heres my question...WHAT ARE THE ENGINES I CAN JUST DROP INTO MY CAR? no trans etc. I have been looking at the d15b VTEC and D16Z6 VTEC. I have heard some people say they have 125 and some say they have 130? Which is it? Is this the difference between JDM and USDM?

Also are there any other engines that will drop right in easy?

Thanks in advance!

Bump for fellow Honda AND Toyota Supra owner. I'm watching this thread, hopefully someone will come thru with good, reliable information. I have two Civics, and I'm either swapping or turboing one of the two.

any d seires will drop right in and b series will go right in also with just a tiny bit of modding, and the d15b vtec has 130hp, and the d15b has a bigger cam

The D16Z6 is a great motor. B series will swap right in, but they are more than a thousand bones. (ya just need some new axles and mounts)

Call up some local junkyards and get either a D16Z6 or a D16Y8....both are good motors and have VTEC. If you pull the motor yourself you could prob get away with paying likek $500 for it or so.
