anyone running E85 turbo or not... have you seen more power
what are your thoughts bout it?
i was thinkin about runnin it in my soon to be gsr converted crx.
thanks
Sean

WHY??? Usually with turbo the idea is to get the highest octane rating ;)

E85 IS 105 OCTANE AND IT BURNS COOLER THEN GAS YOU HAVE SOME THINGS TO THINK ABOUT B4 YOU CAN CONVERT

you have to get rid of all unanodized aluminum in the fuel system

change all rubber to viton seals and hoses and one last bad thing

hondas have a stock plastic lining in the fuel tank and e85 will eat it up
you can make lots of power on the stuff it it is set up right there are some boosted v8s that i know of that are making 900-1500hp on e85

im in the middle of converting my nitrous b18c5 rex to run on this stuff

hear read up its cool stuff next best thing to having pure alcohol at the pump
:)driver:now that would be cool )

also you can make you own ethanol/E100 with a still like they did in the old days for moonshine then you could drink your fuel:eek: and get f***** up real quick

i was planning on buying an after market ruel take prob a 15 or 20 gal.
E85 means 85 % ethanol 15% gas
the gas is really just to help with starts since ethanol runs so cold!

how bout if i did all stainless braided lines and an aftermarket alky pump and furl tank?

I really wanted to get a gsr swap and have someone tune it with E85 and run that all the time.
would it be easier for them to tune with an OBD 2 engine as oppose to a obd 1? i will have someone else tune my car.

thanks alot
your friend
Sean

engine dosent matter you are looking in the right dirrection you cant use braided stainless lines they are rubber on the inside unlesss you get teflon lined but they are stiff and hard to work with and more $$$$ i would run as much ss hard line as you can you can also use the stock steeel line from what i have been told

kool sounds good!
u said u had a b18c5 that u are converting...

1.r you going to have to use bigger injectors since you need more eth/air? or could the stock ones handle the increase?

2.what lines, tank, fuel pump are you using?

thanks
Sean

im going to run some type of fuel cell and im going to run all hardss lines till im close to the motor

one of the guys at our shop has NA LS-VTEC converted to E85, tuned with Neptune and puts out a little over 200 whp - with the E85 you will need a lot bigger injectors, pump, etc. - with the E85, he had to add about 60% more fuel than what he was running with race gas

HMMMmmm, that doesnt make sense if its actual octane rating is higher
E85 doesn't actually have octane rating, although it makes power equivalent to about 105 octane gasoline - the reason it takes more fuel is because it is mostly alcohol, which has a high oxygen content resulting in requiring more fuel to get the air/fuel ratio right - burning any kind of alcohol requires a lot more fuel

E85 requires more fuel when compared to a normal gasoline setup because it has a lower energy content per mass unit of fuel.

There are many manufacurers of stainless braided line that are compatible with mechanol/ethanol.
