Alright, I just purchased a 88 Civic HB(STD, 4-spd) with blown motor for $300 to swap in my D15B-VTEC in(the two CRXs are no more). Anyways, this car had all kinds of decals on it including a huge Orange Country Choppers across the windshield, and the most ghetto two-tone paint job. I just spent an hour scraping decals and paint of the windows. WTF is up with people? And I think this car was driven illegally(not to be racists, but these guys were mexican btw, I know because I asked.), because had a fake tag and the inspection sticker expired in 04.

I don't know if you guys are familiar with NC style titles, but the guy didn't ever get a new title(he just kept the old one where it was signed off to him), anyways he signed it off to me in the "dealer" section and I had it notarized. Will this still go through? Or does he have to get a new title and sign it over($40+1 week) or should I go to the owner before him?

if its been notarized its a legal deal i would assume. but then again, you could call your DMV and ask them just to be on the safe side.

you should just stay away from deals like that. it isn't worth the hassle. you might get a cheap car, but who knows what else. good luck man.

what's a "riced out car" ?

Showing neglect to keep the stock body clean.

Characteristics

"Ricing" (a term usually not used by the modifier himself) a vehicle is meant to emulate the aesthetic work of independent automotive car tuning companies who modify more than just appearance, and to give an appearance of greater ability than the car actually has. Ricing is generally looked down upon amongst people who perform engine tuning and other performance racing modifications.
Common aftermarket modifications in this style can include but are not limited to:
  • Body modifications
    • Aerodynamic-seeming or creatively-designed body kits, often with little function
    • Wings and spoilers that serve no useful function, possibly increasing drag and decreasing traction.
    • Carbon fiber hoods (sometimes fiberglass replicas made to look like carbon fiber, or just decorative self adhesive plastic with carbon fiber look)
    • Non-functional hood scoops
    • Excessively large wheels ("rims") (for example chromed, or "dubs", as well as Spinners) that often decrease acceleration due to higher rotational inertia. Handling is also often made worse by the extra unsprung weight.
    • Improperly lowered suspension, such as stock springs shortened by heating or cutting. Or from not getting a proper alignment resulting in excessive negative camber.
  • Aesthetics
    • Bright paint or interior, frequently in contrasting colors
    • Decals and stickers for aftermarket parts not actually present on the vehicle
    • Badging from other higher-performance vehicles or JDM tuning companies like Mugen, Nismo, etc.
  • A loud, free-flowing exhaust system with a large cylindrical resonator at the rear of the car, known as a "fart cannon" and many other colorful names.
  • Lighting
    • Decorative neon and LED lighting in addition to the regular head/tail lamps and brake/turn signals, such as lighted windshield washer nozzles and tire valve caps, underbody neon lighting ("hover lights"), etc.
    • Euro-style taillights, also known as "Altezza"-style lights or "Altezzas" (equally popular and known as "Lexus" lights in Europe)
    • Super-bright headlight bulbs (although most of these bulbs offer better lighting than conventional halogen bulbs), sometimes of illegal specification and poorly aligned; colored bulbs, also often illegal, which are used for turning signals, side-markers, etc.

Here's my all time favorite riced out car...

and yes I know u know what riced is Celerity but i couldnt resist to reply lol...

I just thought of this today. Ricers are like farts. They think their a big shit, but they're really just a lot of hot air.

heh, it is hard to imagine that an american car had a wing that size.

the Charger Daytona was 24 feet long, 6 feet wide. The wing stood much higher than that (I don't have the exact dimensions, but it's over 40 inches). It's also squared off on the folds, and completely flat on the top.

Even though the hood on the Charger Daytona opens hinging in the rear (as common) once can not reach the engine from the front of the car. Even if you stand on the nose (Which isn't a good idea) and lay forward, arms outstretched. Not a lot of trailers can accomodate the Charger Daytona.

That is not a daytona wing, that's an aftermarket wing (Something like the "Supra 4", being 4 times the height of the Supra wing)

The trunk lid of the Charger is almost 4 feet long. At it's arc, it doesn't come near the top of the wing. I can crouch and walk under it.

The Daytona is ridiculously proportioned.
