This is my set up.CRX Si with D16Z6 and Si transmission.I have a comp cam 59100,cai,header and stainless exhaust. What I'm wondering is where to go to next in order to squeeze more power out of my set up.I don't want turbo or supercharger.I want to keep it all motor.
Will a lightened flywheel and new internals in the block help out?? If so what do you suggest?? Also what can be done to the tranny as far as gearing is concerned?? I'm fairly new to the Honda scene but hooked and here to stay.So I'm open to any and all suggestions as I'm far from a master mechanic. Thanks guys.
I hear Eagle makes good product so maybe some pistons/maybe not, gimme some sugestions!!

yes it will help but it wont do a hole lot i say bore and stroke it with a big cam,, but a simple turbo on it will spank a gt mustang

A lightened flywheel and new internals will definitely help..I'm running a Fidanza flywheel in my CRX, and absolutely love it. As far as internals, look into Wiseco pistons and Eagle rods, they're both top-notch. There's not much you can do to the transmission, but getting an aftermarket LSD differential will help you out a lot. Really the other thing you could do short of going forced induction would be to get headwork done, and I'd highly recommend Exospeed for this...they offer several different headwork packages on their website...check them out, and email Wil, he can help you out as good as (if not better) than anyone on this site...from what I've seen they've got badass pricing as well.

yank that head off and have it ported, d series heads have better chambers than b series-doesn't take much to start making some serious hp's. think about upping the size of the intake and exhaust valves, piston swap would be a good idea as well, as the aftermarket cam will be not utilizing the stock compression too well, your octane dependency will be going up

See now opinions are starting to vary.I was told pistons won't make any difference.I'd like to get 170 horses out of my d16z6.I would think with headwork,header/exhaust,cai and possibly pistons would 170 be attainable???

lol you don't need race fuel and itb to make 150whp with a d series, you can pull as many ponies as a b series any day with the right head work and the proper camshaft and compression ratio to match

if you really want to do some mods, a crankshaft with a shorter stroke to pull up the rod/stroke ratio would be in order, that will allow more hp to be achieved with way less wear on the block

Is there a website of somesort or tech article of someone building a D16Z6?? I am definately mechanically inclined but not anywhere near a master mechanic, new cranshaft sounds expensive and I want to make sure that what I spend my money on is going to be worth it and work towards my goal.

YOU do not know what you are talking about.

In reality,170 WHP is going to take a little more than that.

Go find me a Allmotor 240WHP D-series

I, too am on a budget, Id recommend goin high compression, with a set of pistons out of a 88'-89' integra(P29), and LS rods, i would have them shot peened, not that it is necessary, but itll make it that much stronger. With this bottom end u would need a crazy head. Deffinitely go for a larger cam and stiffer valve springs, and titanium retainers. With the lightened fly wheel, u will lose street driveabilty. U will have to shift a lot faster, because u lose inertia frum the loss of weight frum the flywheel. So even tho the flywheel is spinning faster, it also is losing its speed just as quick when power isnt applied to it. But then again if ur gonna have a car with a comp ratio above 12, u probably wouldnt want to drive it as a daily driver, anyways

d series are econo engines youll never beat up on a stock b series civic unless your turbo, na will cost waymore then just throwing 6psi cheap turbo kit on it

not true ive seen plenty of non turbo d series beat the crap out of b series

$6000 in a na D. vs stock b18. the d wins

$6000 na D vs $3000 built turbo d Turbo for the win.

Get a fucking Turbo
yea i agree he should turbp it, but if your comparing a built all motor d to a stock b the d will slauter it

I searched but couldn't find any reviews of anyone who has bought one of the $500-$600 d-series turbo kits on ebay, are these ok?? It's going to just be a weekend machine anyway but if the set-ups a real piece of shit as apposed to just not top of line I might try a turbo set-up and a good tune.

no dont waste your money there junk just save a little more and get a greddy turbo kit for around 1200 bucks

true, but all the turbos on ebay ive seen have been glued together and blow in about a week
