IMO

720p is just as good as 1080i. I challenge anyone that hasn't seen either, to goto a store and do a side by side comparison.

Yes, there is a little difference, but only after I have owned my 50" sony rear projection 720p for 6 months and compared it to my buddies Dell 50" plasma 1080i.

Other than that, discovery channel highdef looks awesome on my sony.

um he said 720p and 1080p.

i have no exp. with hi-def tv since im too poor, but 1080p is said to be the 'magic' number. i mean, take MS. they said the xbox 360 only supported up to 1080i and didnt care if the ps3 came out with 1080p because most people dont own a tv with that high of a resolution and continued to bash it. then a few weeks ago, they just annouced they'll support 1080p. kinda like apple?

anyway, sony's arent that bad. just theyre camera and propriority shit sucks. however, they bought konica minolata, so the cameras may become good.

btw, i think the purpose of the exploding paint is that the bravia is so clear and crisp, the colors jump at you.

lol, fucking physcology 101 class.......

i have a 1080p. don't even bother with anything else... its like buying windows ME right now... phased out.

1080i vs. 1080p HDTV: should you care? - Fully Equipped - CNET reviews

3. What content is available in 1080p?
Really, nothing at this point. Today's high-def broadcasts are done in either 1080i or 720p, and there's little or no chance they'll jump to 1080p any time soon because of bandwidth issues. Meanwhile, some newly announced DVD players from Denon and NeuNeo (who?) are claiming to upconvert standard DVD movies to 1080p resolution, but that's a far cry from native high-def content. More promising is the post-DVD future. There's been a lot of chatter over whether the new breed of high-def movie players, Blu-ray or HD-DVD, as well as the upcoming Sony PlayStation 3, will output in 1080p. Allegedly, they will, but those players and recorders will be very expensive at first (more than $1,000), and they probably won't hit more modest price levels until 2007 or even 2008. The PS3, on the other hand, is designed to be more of a mainstream product; we hope that means a price tag in the neighborhood of $500. It's unclear, however, exactly what it will output in 1080p--games, Blu-ray movies, or both--or neither.

Hmmmmm

note the date on the article... its kinda old... almost a year in fact.

lots has changed in hidef this past year

I haven't even looked at the link yet, but I know exactly what this is... I'm gonna sound like a sony shill here but this was done by the same team that did the Bravia commercial where they dumped millions of bouncy calls down the hills of San Francisco. No CGI was used, it was all real. An incredible ad. Last I heard the paint commericial was still being filmed, I didn't know they had finished it!
