I have a 1999 Honda Civic LX. It has a D16 non-vtec engine, and I am looking to swap the motor for a better upgrade. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as far as engines go. I am looking to do a swap that wouldn't be hard as hell to do. If anyone has any suggestions as far as engines go, or has done this in the past and has any tips, I would appreciate it.

any b series will be the easest swap, so if you wont easy go with one of those but if you wont a out of the box v8 gt killer trow a h22a in there

Well, I was considering putting a B18 engine in. Reading about the B18 to the H22, they make similar power, right around 200. However, I was reading that the H22 weighs about 50 pounds more. I would like to eventually do some autocross. Which engine would be an easier swap, the 18 or the 22? Can you also just give some quick pros/cons to each engine. I would greatly appreciate it.

h22a pros..tork tork tork, cons.heavy need to be resleeved for modding sterring is cut down..b18 pros grat motor revs high hp is good, dont have to resleve.cons little tork

you did not say shit about price and a k-series is just a little more work then the b-series and thats what i would go with

a k will cost about 7-8 k by the time your done with it and its a hell of hard compared to a b, b series about 1800-5000 depending on witch b, h about 2200-3000, depending on witch h

so like i said to start with....................there was no mention of price and it could be done a lot cheaper then that if you know how to turn your own wrench

well i got a problem w my swap, i put a b18a1 into a 89 hatch. da problem is dat i don't have any spark what can do or check to fix dis problem?

this is turn you own wrench price, kiddo

I know that. That's what I plan on doing. I was just wondering what engine would be an easier swap, and the pro's and con's of each one. A K is a bit out of my range right now. The major concern I have is the wiring. I'm not quite sure what OBD wiring mine is. Also, about resleeving the H22. When you say that in order to build it, what do you mean by tuning. Are you talking abou if I want to modify the internals or turbocharge it? Or are you just talking about resleeving inorder to get it to run well?

the easyest thing to swap for your car will be a 99-00 si motor just drop it in and plug it up.

:withstupid: for sure the easiest swap of them all. If I were you, I'd just swap a d16 vtec head onto your current block, upgrade the pistons and rods, and piece together a turbo kit. You could probably do that and be making 250-300whp for the price of the b16 swap after all is said and done.

How much would the D16 Vtec head cost me? I wasn't initially planning on building up the D16, but if you guys say that it will be easier and cheaper, then it sounds like a plan. Also, what is the engine code for the 99-00 Si model?
