I noticed that if they have civic then they prefer b16a.. my question is why not get h22a or up.. they lookin for more hp. im sure they lookin for more hp.. h22a got 200... b16a got around 160.. i know h22a can fit civic.. why not h22a or other.. why pick b16a? i wanna to know..

b16 are an easier fit, possibly. cheaper, probably. parts easier to supply, maybe. and its probably just more practical. i'm stuck on d-series personally. i should upgrade.

Quite a few people are actually putting in H22s over B16s these days. It's becoming more and more popular since the mount kits are cheaper, the engines are cheaper than B18Cs, and the top swap is now the K20 and K24. You need more power to hang with the big boys.

k20.. dat top swap but wha about h22a sh type.. cuz h22a sh-220... k20-220.. same hp but different price..

h22a sh type- around 3000 to 4000..

k20- over 5000..

is dat why they buy b16a.. cheap price.. rite?

Yes, and the B16 is one of the easiest engines to drop into an 88-00 Civic- other than another d block.

i ve an idea.. when i buy b16a engine but i cld buy GSR head for b16a.. more HP.. u know what i m saying..

Good idea?

whut wud be the best engine money wise for a 95 coupe? but keep in mind hp nd like the easiest to add parts to for the ulitmate motor to be around the big boys

i got a 95 coupe rite now nd i got a b16a but its stock, havent put nothin into it yet to busy payin for skool

add on to the b16a that you already have. a b18C will only give you 8 more hp but a b18C5 gives you 25 more. if you can afford it, go for the C5

It might just be me but i think it depends what you wanna do with your car. If your are going to boost i would say go with b18c1. If your going to go all motor i would personally go b18c5 or k20a but i dont know your budget. b18c5 a much easier swap though.

what is the best engine for a eg hatch money wise.

Im no guru like some of these guys here but i think it depends on your budget and what your going to do. boost or n/a. drag or everyday speeder. all that good stuff. If you are going to boost you wanna go for something with low compression so gets like a b16 or a b18c1. a good motor for people with not a lot of money is GSR block with a b16 head (poor mans type r). if you got a friend that can build for you i suggest that.

Prices arent exact
K20a goes around id say $5500
220 Hp 158Trq 11.5 Compression (JDM)
B18c5 Type R around $4500+ depending on what year you get
200Hp 134Trq 11.1 Compression(JDM)
195Hp 130Trq 10.6 Compression (USDM)

B18c1 GSR around $3000
180Hp 126Trq 10.6 Compression (JDM)
170Hp 121Trq 10.1 Compression (USDM)
B16b ek Type R around $4000
185Hp 117 Trq 10.8 Compression(JDM)
B16a (92-95) SiR II around $2400
170Hp 113Trq 10.4 Compression (JDM)
160Hp 111Trq 10.2 Compression (USDM)

I too have been deciding whether to put a B16A, or an H22A into my 99 LX. The H22A looks so much better on paper, with better power, and torque. However, the install into an EK's bay is more dificult than into an Accord's bay. I know that there are mount kits, so can someone list a link or good site that has them for a good price (H22A mounts for an EK chassis that is).

Yes, this is what I understand. However, the power you gain from dropping an H22A over a B16A2 is great (something like 40 HP just on motor). These are the two motors I am considering. With this being my first swap, I don't want to buy and get myself into something that is too hard to do. The B16A2 is basically a drop in. However, the H22A would be much better for racing, putting more weight over the front wheels. By the way, how is the aftermarket for an H22A compared to a B16A2?
