Hi and good evening folks !
Im going 2 convert my rear civic ek4 brakes into disc brakes !
I know that any civic SI 99-00 and integra 94-01 kit will work.
but what is the best choise ??
is there a difference between the ITR, GSR, LS or civic SI brakes (Like disc diameters caliper strength) ??
If there is a difference who is the best ??
need ur help !
Thanks.

The difference between them is minimal at best, get the one you can find that works with your budget. You'll more than likely want new pads and disc anyway.

Oh Really?

so in stock form, is the gsr the best besides the Type R which has Brembos? I too am looking in to doing this. aren't the gsr brake rotors a larger diameter than the si?

if you go with the integra brakes you will have to do the front to, because the lug pattern is different from the civic.

not necessarily true. the 96-97 Type R's had 4 bolt. But don't they have different axles and knuckles? Also, until I bleed the lines, is it possible to just swap out the rotors and drums until I install the Integra master cylinder and brake booster? I know it won't work as well but will it work until I have time to replace all of the brake lines?

yeah if you want full power. The Integra brakes are a larger volume. if you want them to be up to their full potential everything needs to be swapped out. I am wondering if I can install in 2 stages:

Put the calipers and ebrake cable on.

Later replace all of the lines, master cylinder and brake booster for full stopping power.

I am guessing that they will still work pretty good before the lines are swapped. Anyone know for sure?

I have heard that The prop valve should be only from the si 99-00.
But can I use the master cylinder and booster from the integra ?? (I have an offer with the hall kit).
Can I use my original (EK4 96 civic EX coupe with ABS) master cylinder ??

Yes, they are four lug, but they are 4x114, not the 4x100 that Civics are, and no the axles are the same, the 97+ five lugs are the one with the bigger axles.

ok so does that mean that the lugs are just a little longer? Prolly higher strength...

I am picking up a complete gsr disc brake conversion today. It includes 4 rotors, 4 calipers, trailing arms, the ebrake cable, master cylinder, and brake booster.
I plan to put these on my 96 EK. I too would like to know if I need the proportioning valve from a 99-00 si.

they are off a 98 GSR. Can I use my 96 EK axles and everything? Will the arms bolt right on?

Thanks to all the vets who have the answers!;)

Hey guys !
Couple of questions remain open 4 me:
1. can I use the master cylinder and booster from the integra ?? (I have an offer with the hall kit) ? or maby use myoriginal (EK4 96 civic EX coupe with ABS) master cylinder ??
2. Do i need 2 buy the ABS units of the integra (rear discs) or can i reuse mine ?
Thanks.

Wrong Forum

Hey Bro-

I'm not sure if it is but maybe people are not answering because this question is in the wrong section? I'm thinking maybe they would more often if it went in General Tech and Maintenance or something else perhaps? Just an idea...

If you don't have something nice to say...

Don't make me get my can opener dude. You aren't some Uber Mod or anything and I was just trying to help.

Yeah if you want the brakes to work up to their full potential then YES you do need to change out to the Integra Master Cylinder and Brake Booster. They are a larger volume. It is possible to just change the calipers out, keeping the stock lines and MS, BB etc but it is not recommended.

I'm gonna take my time on mine, paint the calipers and buy some steel braided lines before I do the swap. Next yeat when the pads are worn out I can upgrade to EBC's or something and buy some drilled and slotted rotors.

since you know wtf your talking about why dont you find me some SOLID evidence on whats diff. between the two ??
on a another note, why dont you just paint your calipers and stop giving advice that you your self need. in other words STFU !

Flame War Anyone?

Who are you anyways? I don't need advice from you. and by the way I restrained myself from telling you the same thing. I am here to get the answers I need to know, if you don't have them then DO NOT POST HERE! nuff said.

i have the answers to everything that you might/will need, but i dont like shareing. lol

hostility ...
try to match the master cylider etc. to the system ... the EK came with drums ... manufacturers are cheap ... so why does si use a different system? Only because it had to.
IMO
Save the desire for stock parts & save yourself the headache, by going with an aftermarket conversion to fit your needs.
