im about to get an h22 put in my 94 prelude and i no i can just bolt up my old h23 tranny to save me some money. but will it hurt the engine performance? doesnt it have different gear ratios?
are you serious? yes the gear ratios are quite different. it will hurt you pretty good in acceleration and espically in your quarter mile time.
example. i raced a 93 lude with h22 and h23 tranny..and ill just say i put many many lengths on him.
so in sum yes there is a noticable difference between the two tranny's but if you are on a tight wallet then the h23 tranny will still make a very noticable difference from the f22.
I'm looking to do a auto to manual transmission swap to my 92 h23a prelude. Would a h23a do well using a h22a trans? I'm looking to boost it soon after.
it would work just fine but the h22 tranny has shorter gears that are better for all motor. if you are going to boost it just stick to the h23 tranny. it will serve you better.
