Ok guys and gals Im sure you are sick and tierd of these threads and I apologize for a new/another one. Here is my question! I picked up a wrecked 00 SI and Im going to be pulling the motor and putting it in my car which is a 97 EK hatch. My question is can I just use the wiring harness on the motor B16? I believe I've read some where that you can't but I figured I would ask anyways. Thanks in advance for any help...If I can't I just plan on buying a EX Harness and going about it that away...

Thanks in advance guys and gals...

Theres a slight difference in the OBD type. Civics '96-'98 are OBD IIA, and '99-'00 are OBD IIB. Not for sure the exact difference but the "Honda Engine Swaps" book says there is a slight difference.

yup yup this is true

the real diffrents between the two are the obd2a use plug a b d, were the obd2b uses plugs a b c, so the pin out will be diffrent

The pin out on what? The ecu? Bc Im using the full motor, tranny, axles, brakes, wiring harness, ecu....ETC. ETC.

Im lost at what to do. Your the only one replying and stating that you would use the SI stuff. But there is a difference in pin out locations. So if I use all the SI stuff what kind of issues am I going to have?

see thats were im confused i think if you use 100% of the si wireing harness you should be fine, just get it all trow it all in and if you have any problems get back to us but sence your useing si everythung i dont see why you would

HEY MAN SORRY ABOUT BEING LATE TA POST THIS DONT KNO IF YOUVE DROPPED THE MOTOR IN YET IF YOU HAVE 100% OF THE Si IT WILL DROP RIGHT IN TO YOUR CIVIC NO PIN ISSUES ON THE ECU

So the 96-98 and 99-00 have the exact same pin out? Have you done the swap? I've read multiple threads of people doing the swap and not being able to use the SI harness....

You are incorrect the 96-98 interior harness will not plug in due to it being 96-98, so none of the interior stuff will work. But now that I know that and knowing that I'm going to swap the dash and climate control, heater core, etc.etc. out than Ill be good to go on the entire swap....

wouldnt it be easier just to cut the si plugs off and splice them to the correct wires on the older modle.

Yes it would, but I like the look of the 99-00 climate control alot better than the 96-98 so I decided to swap all the interior out as well.

why make it complicated ... I cosign "ahhvtec' , keep the original harness. Most of your changes are on the engine wiring harness side. You either lengthen, shorten, change a connector, or add a plug to your engine wiring ... your just feeding the ecu every wire it needs to work.

I gues if your goin to change the climate go with the si.

Yes I know that, and I'm making it complicated for myself. I don't care for the old school slider climate control, and since I bought a entire wrecked car why not just swap it and make my money back when I sell it? Its called thinking ahead... Plus I already own a SI, I just bought this one for parts. So now I have a 97 Hatch, 99 SI, and a 00 SI....^_^
