CanadianDriver: First Drive - 2007 Ford Edge

The Edge's design is something that Ford executives regard as iconic and segment defining. They liken its distinctiveness to the unique shape of the Mustang (presumably those models that bookend the Mustang's long history). Their enthusiasm for the shape of the Edge was front and centre throughout the vehicle's formal introduction, and key Ford designer Freeman Thomas was on hand to further explain the evolution of vehicle design from horse-and-buggy days, through to the CUV: more on the design below.

It's kinda funny how all of the new SUV's and some larger sedans have the optional "big chrome rims" package. I remember not too long ago that rolling on dubs was a hood thing. Now it's mostly soccer moms and bussiness exec's you see with 20''+ on their vehicles.

Ironic isn't it?

Anyway, I feel Ford is really stepping up to change the craptastic image it once held. For that I applaud them, but that design is kind of on the ugly side IMO.

That's even worse, lol. For the amount of money the spent on 26's and a suspension lift, they could have had a pretty badass muscle car. If you look at what they're doing now, you can see they're almost reverting back to SUV's because of the lifts on some of these vehicles.

Don't get me wrong, some sedans and SUV's look really nice with 20's and even 22's. Just look at GM and chrystler cars and trucks.
